Default Wouldn't it be nice...

I just finished reading "Ask and It Is Given" and thought this one exercise was worthy of its own thread. There's a section in the book that contains 22 techniques to attract better things into your life, improve your vibrational frequency, or...in more common language, think more positively.

The one that has hit home for me immediately (I just read it a couple of days ago) is called "Wouldn't it be nice..." As they explain, the danger of thinking about what you DO want is that you often focus on what you DON'T want. Want more money? You're probably thinking just as much or more about how poor you are. Want a better body? You're focusing on what's wrong with yours.

But, if you simply phrase all of those things as the end of the sentence starting with "Wouldn't it be nice..." it's tough to focus on the negative. "Wouldn't it be nice if I had wealth in abundance?" "Wouldn't it be nice if I felt more confident about my physical appearance?"

For me, the first positive result was way more mundane...I came home two nights ago, looked at my desk, saw all the clutter, and my heart sank. I had wanted to get right to work, but my desk couldn't have looked less inviting. So I tried to refocus: "Wouldn't it be nice if my desk was free of clutter?" and "Wouldn't it be nice if my desk were more inviting as a place to work?"

Well, of course somebody had to unclutter my desk--the universe can't do everything. But the next morning, before I left for an appointment, I realized I had a couple of extra minutes (that's not usual--I was leaving early?) and thought I might as well attack the desk. Five minutes later: problem solved. Something that had been bugging me for a long time...done! (At least for now).

Wouldn't it be nice if every problem were so easily solved?
