Default Self-Sabotage

Hello there,

I've had some troubles with manifestations lately. You see, I always end up sabotaging myself by putting out 'bad' intentions. For example, yesterday I put out the intention to meet a certain girl at school today and to have a nice talk with her. It seemed like a pretty strong intention and I really felt good about it, even when visualizing 'the whole picture' and not just what I want to happen.

However, today when I went to school, suddenly all these sabotaging intentions came into my mind, like, "Who am I fooling? This will never work". I do detect these intentions and then I try and convince myself that what I want to happen will happen. However, I never create the same feeling of confidence that I had the night before. After the first 'bad' intention comes, I keep doubting, ending up in a failed manifestation.

I recently read Steve's article about how fears sabotage our intentions and that the solution is to accept the fears and turn them into consequences. But how do I block myself from negative thinking, like "This will never work"? How can I properly control my thoughts?

Practice, practice, practice.

You're limiting yourself also. Why not intend to talk to ten girls instead of just her?

Hahahaha, it's because I really like that girl, because things are working out pretty well so far, and because I'm just plain loyal

Fair enough... loyalty is a great habit.

Anyway, the goal isn't to block or push away negative thoughts, its to get in the habit of being so successful that negative thoughts go away on their own after experience shows they don't hold validity. Takes time.

How about ignoring them? Dont confuse ignoring with resisting. Its more like "Observing" them without paying attention.

You said that you are a loyal person. So what do you do when a thought of "non-loyalty" comes to you? You ignore it ..right!! ...its more like the thought comes in to your mind and leaves you on its own without actually bothering you much.

So try doing the same. Be an observer.

Confidence BUILDS confidence. Dont' start with Mt. Everest young jedi; start with a hike in the hills and work your way up but stay positive and member whatever you repeatedly do in your life becomes a stronger force; one also harder to break.

GOOOD LUCK!

Ignoring the negative thoughts is great advice.

Great advice, all!
I'll try and ignore the negative thoughts by being an observer.

Just a quick question... I'm not sure if I'm doing the intention thing right. Some people say it's better not to intend, but to choose. So what I do, for example, is that I tell myself that I choose to receive €50 tomorrow. I don't know how I will receive it, but I choose to receive €50, and so it is.
Is this alright? What do you people usually do?

I know.. It's off-topic.. Sorry 'bout that

Don't intend, just choose, the very word intention implies a level of doubt.

State "I choose to have $50 now" there is no tomorrow. Again when you say tomorrow you build in a level of doubt, tomorrow never comes remember You don't need emotion and you don't need to obsess over it with multiple thought. The power of choice is power enough. Consciousness isn't stupid or lazy, just choose and move on.

Make a choice, get out of the way, simple.

Sounds good

Wow, I totally forgot I posted that choice here, 'to receive €50' (I ended up using my example for real). I just received €50 some minutes ago! This is pretty cool!
