Default Vision Boards and Affirmations

I learned about Vision Boards after watching The Secret and thought it was a great idea, so I made one. I also do daily affirmations and wonder if I'm just covering the same ground, since my desires are the same. Has anyone found that Vision Boards and verbal affirmations are significantly different, or that one is better for certain types of goals?

The first thing I can think of is that some people learn better visually, and others are more verbal people, so that could be a crucial difference. Others?

I haven't the expertise or experience to really offer a valid opinion but why not do both at the same time

as, you concentrate on the image, vocalise in your mind "I am the owner of that car....house.....horse.......whatever"

I do not mean to be condexcending or flippant and I apologise if that is how this comes accross but I sincerely believe to cover all bases, that might be an easy way to go about it

you can also back it up throughout the day with affirmations and unless you are particularly poor at visualisation, with enough repetitions, one would presume that your affirmations might conjure up the image of your desired car, house, horse by association

a living thing might be a bit dodgy as you might actually (if successful) set moves in place for somebody to have to leave you their favourite animal as the Universe, God ....whatever might take your instructions literally and you might get THAT horse

a bit of a stretch I know but we are not working with definitives here

just my two cents

I don't always have time to do both, so I want to use my time in the most effective way. But in general, I believe you're right and that doing both is a good idea.

A vision board is a whiteboard or a wall or whatever you please, that has pictures of the things you'd like to have. It's a point of reference for your visualization of the things you want. Sort of like a post-it note for the universe.

Default The most effective way

Doesn't matter which route you take as long as you have the feeling behind it--emotion is what makes it effective, not necessarily repetition.

Yes, they are different, even though they do the same thing (they are both might to help program your subconscious mind to work on getting you what you want.)

Vision boards - visual representation of your desires, the things you want. You look at it get some kind of emotional response. Vision boards are a visual aid a tool to help you visualize what you want.

Affirmations - a positive statement you repeat constantly out loud or silently affirming a desire or something you want.

The difference isn't in the fact that one is visual and the other is verbal, it is that affirmations help you keep your mind focused on what you want and not on the negative things that people tend to focus on. The vision board only enhances the affirmations with I believe is a very, very powerful tool.

The range of things you can do with affirmations far out weigh the vision board - Affirmations would be number one or two on the list of the most important self help tools where in my opinion a vision board would be the sprinkling on the icing, it takes the whole cake up a notch.

Keep doing both, like Jm4362 said, it is the emotion behind whichever you use that makes it effective.

PS
In the Dynamic Laws of Prosperity, a powerful book by Catherine Ponder, she has a section on vision boards and she suggests putting affirmations on every picture on your vision board.

Good job and good luck...

As previously implied, I think both are useful and effect you in different ways depending upon whether you are a visual or auditory (or kinesthetic) learner. If visual then the vision board will have a greater conscious impact and the affirmation a greater subconscious impact. If auditory, then vice versa. Use both.

hi all I just want to share to you this very nice find.

it's a free program that installs 5 vision board screensavers.

http://versusclips.com/visionboard-screensavers.exe

I do enjoy it because I myself am a fan of law of attraction.
