Smile Polarity - Law of Attraction

Hi All,

I have seen "The Secret" and have been doing alot of thinking about it. I agree with alot of the principles (positive thinking, energy, etc.) which has been around for many years (others have said the same thing). The question I have is this: If you really think about "energy" (we all may think we know what it is but do not really) and the "Law of Attraction" and all the other manifestation ideas/programs, a battery is a perfect example of energy. It uses and takes energy, but has two poles - positive and negative. One cannot exist without the other. If you go by reality, the only thing that REALLY attracts is positive to negative (and vise versa). I know there is an article on the site about polarity but do not remember it describing or addressing this. I have found some instances of throwing positive vibes (thoughts) out and getting something, someday, perhaps, that could fit, but I have actually seen the exact opposite occur in my life. When I LET something GO, that is the exact moment it comes back, and very quickly. This is diametrically opposite of all the rage now (The Secret, Law of Attraction), etc. It seems to me the more positive you are, the negative attracts to you like the magnet because it needs the positive to survive. I am an extremely positive person but lots of negative people come to steal my energy which I don't allow anymore. I just think The Secret is a little too flippant about how things work and doesn't address reality (sick kids, death, dying, car accidents, etc.) - those people wanted that or someone else's negativity caused it? No way. I tend to go with the Bible's view: The more "light" (read: positive energy) you have, the more the "dark" (negative) will try & find and latch on. Any thoughts or experiences? I am really curious to hear other viewpoints of what someone has experienced. THANKS:-) Susan

Perhaps this happens because it aligns with your belief.

My beliefs are that there is only positive energy - What I may perceive as negative energy is only the absence of positive energy.

Gidday secret5, exactly, expressing our energy through our beliefs manifests, or creates them. And it grows or snowballs as long as we keep doing it.

Ditto.

It is not necessarily that Intention-Manifestation/Deliberate Creating works along the same mechanisms as the afore mentioned battery, for example. Collectively there seems to be an agreed upon experience of the physical battery and how it works. And then there is what seems to be the collective spiritual/psychic/metaphysical 'mystery' about thoughts and intention and how exactly in detail that works for us.

You're right. The Secret DVD does not really get into this but Steve Pavlina does in his treatises here on the website about subjective reality. You may or may not resonate with this concept but they are worth a read, IMHO. Either way it can be a wise thing to consider more than one resource for learning about this [ and of course any other subject ]. No one book or website or anything will have all the aspects and answers.

You mention the Bible and I will offer that my take on it/Christianity is really that I see in so many places messages and teachings about the law of attraction/deliberate creating, etc. My experience of Christianity is only expanded upon since learning about the holographic theory models, intention-manifestation, subjective reality/ho'oponopono, etc. Though I realize that the spectrum of Christian teachings is very wide. So many religions and beliefs and levels of attachment to permanent religious structure that fall under that umbrella. But just wanted to share that there are other Christian perspectives, too

I have to agree with you on the subject of Christianity.

I see it this way - Jesus was a great person who was enlightened and wanted to share his understanding and knowledge with a sleeping world. Through misperception, men's ego-based power hunger (church), and faulty interpretations - it became something far from what it began.

It would be as if in two thousand years, Rhonda Byrne was worshiped as God and idolized, yet the her message of LOA lost and fell by the wayside no longer being taught. Somewhere along the way the message stopped being taught and the person became the message.

Much of what I read in the NT is so congruent - so in sync with LOA that it leaves little doubt in my mind what Jesus was trying to share.

course that is how i see it in my reality. but I don't read the bible "Literally" for me it is symbolic.

Over at Welcome to World Puja - Where the World Meets for Peace is an interview with Gregg Braden - who was essentialy my first straightforward "Secret" teacher via his books. In this interview he mentions the extreme changes in the Bible that were made, taking this information out. 20 or so books that were eliminated completely and another 20 or so that were very much altered. And how this is known is that early versions were found and finally properly compared to later ones this past century. If anyone is drawn to his work the interview is in the audio archives, the date: Valentine's Day-February 14, 2007.

For me, too, the Bible is largely symbolic in many places. I especially like Neville Goddard's take on it in his short book, At Your Command. He knew all about the law of attraction was able to convey much that is relevant to this in his teachings.

My thoughts about duality, etc

When you see "Positive" and "Negative" in a dualistic point of view. Your trapped, and you attract more of the opposite to stay stabile. When you look at "Positive" and "Negative" as ONE. You only attract what you want to attract, because you know, it is always balanced. It's not positive or negative anymore, its just IT.

We tend to look at it like this

Negative |..............................|positive
.............|---------------------|......... (Dualistic point of view)
Then, we tend to say, "I'm positive" or "I'm negative"

But in reality, this duality exists only in our mind, and so is the negative or positive side (where we place ourself).

I think that, in my reality it looks more like this.
......infinity<|..................|pointer........ .................|>Infinity
............<<---------------------------------------->>........
Where the pointer is, I am .
Because both sides are infinite, I'm not negative, positive or between. I'm everywhere. I'm moving.
I'm moving UP, or I'm moving down.
I'm moving to the LEFT, or I'm moving to the right.

Maybe my mind looks a little wacko. I don't know.

Greetz

just wanted to let you know I am reading "At Your Command" which you recommended - wow, many things I've thought about myself, but very interesting to read that someone else has thought the same things - and MUCH NEW info that I hadn't considered, excellent reading if others are interested!!

thanks again.
