| How The Law Of Abundance Works For Me r. andrew stokes I don’t much subscribe to the idea of “manifesting” or manipulating karmic energies for my own benefit. Honesty demands that I confess I’ve certainly done my share of hoarding, lying for personal gain and pulling off some shifty deals…in a younger day. Those actions allow me something to compare real sharing and unselfishness with, so they are valuable experiences in the course of a life. Many feel they need to walk a fine line and adhere to Christian ideals they never internalize BECAUSE those ideals are never challenged or practiced from the heart, but rather, the intellectual mind and church peer pressure. The mind that thinks Heaven is only accessed by good behavior and control of human facilities is missing out on life’s experiences: the ‘sins’ are just as important as the repentance. And this process is much more meaningful than a life lived by the rules which…in the end…do NOT get one into a Heaven that doesn’t exist. That heaven was defined by an Entity who demanded you dare not question it, be it Jerry Falwell or Abubu Sokissit. The heaven depicted by “Family Circus” or Jehova’s Witness literature does not speak of the actual spiritual plane “heaven”, but many will argue with dogma that I’m wrong. If dogma gets you into a dogmatic place, then I’m cashing in my Bus Ticket and using the cash for chocolate donuts and coffee. The Law Of Abundance I have been shown only revealed itself when I let go of the fear of lack. Fear is spiritually observed as the opposite of Love. Lack is the opposite of abundance. The words of Jesus suggest to us that we need not go without: if we have TWO jackets, give one to the poor. It doesn’t demand we give the jacket off our back, but it strongly shepherds us to understand that when we have our Daily Bread, we need to share the surplus. “Pay It Forward” is a good example of the LOA, though it is deeper than a symbolic gesture: it is the intention with which giving is performed. Scripture also assures us that our needs will be cared for. Very often, we receive plentiful gifts, and it is how we share…or hoard…those gifts that defines the path of abundance we were promised. And it is how our intentions are directed during the giving process that resonates with Universal Law or not. American Indian tribes (and many other aboriginals) practice “gifting” in their community to share the wealth. One must consider that not even our bodies are a possession we own: they have been given to us by a process which is based in the Earth, Herself. Earth does not stop producing fruits and vegetables when the economy is bad. Chickens don’t stop laying eggs because the market tanked. And trees do not stop providing us with wood because Wall Street is sitting on a hemorrhoid. All these things take and give because they contribute to a longer-term sustainability they are part of, with a commitment to life itself. Following these simple illustrations Nature gives us gleans a clear pathway to the Law Of Abundance (LOA). One morning, while working out of town, I went to the buffet for breakfast. I was down to my last $20 (until my next pay draw) and would have enough for lunch, too, but that was it. Out in front of the buffet was a homeless man who asked merely for change. The all-you-can-eat buffet was $6.99. I gave the man $10 and told him he should consider using the remainder of his change to leave a gratuity, and that this gift was not a requirement to sit with me (though he was welcomed to) or anything else. I gave because I know what it’s like to be hungry. I also know what it’s like to be homeless. In the words of Patti Smith: “Those who have suffered, understand suffering.” The man chose a window seat and I saw him enjoying his food with gratitude. That night, I returned to the buffet for supper, having obtained a cash advance from my client. The cashier refused to take my money. When I asked her why, she smiled and said, “I just like you.” She had no idea about that morning’s events. This was simply the LOA in action…a chain reaction of balancing out the deficits, and an example of how God works through all of us, and all things. While indeed the money system itself is Man’s way of controlling life and resources, our cooperation with the Universe easily overrides those controls. When we give because we understand or empathize, the giving creates and conducts a stronger energy than all the wealth in a bank. As Jesus said, to give merely to appear good to the crowd is worse than not giving at all. When you give with your heart, that unconditional spirit stays with you. As this becomes a way you live because you see its sanity and Grace, needs are effortlessly met, and giving of oneself becomes the only way to be. Without going into unnecessary detail, I have been poor most of my life. I’ve worked hard with dedication to that which I believe in (and know). I found myself one day with more money than I’ll ever need. I continue to share where I can, and in places I know need the assistance. I do not give without discernment, nor do I give so that all may witness it: I try to be subtle, and often don’t get to see the faces light up from my sharing. But it comes back to me every day, and as it does, I continue to share it. That includes my life experiences. |

I am working so hard with all this right now, old habits truly die hard, paying a bill stresses me out, looking at the bank account makes me feel sick, the `lack` mentality is truly the worst mentality to keep hold of, letting it go is taking effort and time for me, I wish I could be brainwashed and someone instil a new belief of `abundance` inside my heart and head. I know everything you say to be true and the only person holding me back and allowing me to suffer about this is ME, I dont have negative beliefs in any other area of my life, my health is good because I believe I will not get sick, my relationship with my husband is good because I know we have trust and love, so why does this part of my life `money` still haunt me? believe me when i say I am trying and reading , absorbing so much material that speaks the same way you do. I will always keep working on it, maybe hypnotherapy would be a better way??? who knows. but thank you again I loved your post Debo

just recognizing there are limiting beliefs regarding money is a huge step forward in changing your life. I have had these fears and I have also been in that situation. I had a lot of money and a lot of abundance in my life but then I lost it very quickly because I believe I had lessons to learn regarding responsiblity and feeling deserving. I now appreciate every part of my life and I am now (through working on my inner self) feel much more deserving to have a better life. I see this as a new chapter in my life and I feel excited and full of gratitude for the opportunity. There is a lot of fear to be erased when we do not want to look at bills coming in. I faced these fears by tackling them head on. I was open to anything which could change these things and turned my thoughts to what did want, to be able to look at my finances with pride. Deal with the fear. Use the intention as this. Once the fear has been dealt with you can move on and be as generous as we would all like to be with others. Having belief and eliminating fear is the key to a more abundant life. |

I was inspired by Royster's post as well. As I read his words, I couldn't help but think that his actions are the very embodiment of the words, "Love thy neighbor as thyself" and "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Allow me to respond to your own request that "...someone instil a new belief of `abundance` inside my heart and head." Please see the inspiring posts in this thread: Letting go of figuring it out I hope they inspire you to achieve a new belief in abundance as does Royster's inspiring life and message. Indeed, what goes around....comes around. Last edited by guthrio; 12-20-2011 at 12:27 AM.

There are situations where giving in plain view might be a great thing to do, as it would either be an example or inspire others to give too. For good example: I'll put a paper dollar in that tip jar. It makes Mr. 8 Cents look like the cheap scoundrel he is, but also "primes the pump" for others who see the dollar in there: they'll be more prone to add a dollar, and not 'chump change'. Being self-employed for 30 years, I have a deep appreciation of what it takes to earn a dollar. I also know that those who depend on tips to suppement their pay really need the dollar. Food servers in America (waiters, waitresses) only make a few dollars an hour BECAUSE they depend on tips. Long before I had substantial money, I was still discerning about who and what I gave to. At Christmas time, when the Salvation Army sets up their classic red pots in front of stores, I don't stop to give: I give year-round, every day, to the world around me. I shop at Salvation Army, and I will contribute donations at a Salvation Army Store. But riding the emotional draft of Christmas is something I've never subscribed to. When I got my inheritance, my guide spirits cautioned me at length about giving. They instructed that in some situations, giving certain people a few hundred dollars is actually enough to kill them. ( Example: A chunk of money for me, when I was still drinking, merely meant a drinking binge. Others may want to return to drug use, etc). Others have problems money will not fix. My primary gauge for giving to those I know is their needs, and also what they would not buy for themselves. And in all cases, it is never of gift of grandios stuff, but things that will help them get through this part of life. And before I had money, I gave of myself. there are several personal sharings I have done on this forum, and people later expressed that they had similar situations, but were afraid to speak of them. By sharing my life experiences, I help others in their own tough trek through life. In "Sexual Healing For A Little Boy", what I share could be considered extremely embarrassing for some, but for me it was an exercise in acceptance. By sharing that part of my childhood, several people knew their own traumas were not unique, and it was a comfort for them to know that. I am so grateful for the responses to this thread: I hadn't expected any, and certainly not as warm as you've all posted. I also wish to say I do not dismiss "manifesting". Clearly, I have taken a different path than many, and still reject many mainstream ideologies, but I've come to understand (and accept) that everyone's needs are different. If manifesting works for them, terrific. Last edited by royster; 12-19-2011 at 09:09 PM.

I actually work with Aboriginal people and what you stated was correct about them gifting/giving. My experience has been around how much they look out for eachother, if they have spare food, money or cigarettes even and they are asked by another Aboriginal person for something, they just give, they share because thats their culture, plus I was told if they didnt it would be `shame` on them. I do think its a nicer way of living, I have a lot of work to do on myself around this because money is in short supply (In my current way of thinking) that I get panicky of not having enough until next pay day. I dont think I would be that bad if I didnt have kids and other responsibilities. Debo |

| Unto whom much is given, of him shall much be required Luke 12:48 A man moved to one of the western U.S. areas and soon noticed that there were beautiful trout in the stream that crossed the property he had recently bought. He decided that he would place mesh screens across the streams at both the upper and lower boundaries of his property to make sure that he would have fish for his own use and that they would not move away to other areas. But trout go upstream to spawn. Thus, none could enter his stream because of his fences. His decision to keep his fish fenced in resulted in fewer and fewer fish until he had none. By deliberate act or by ignorance, selfishness fences us in so that we harm ourselves, and break a moral law of the universe, namely: "Give and it shall be given unto you." |
