Hello, As some of you may have noticed (actually probably none of you :P), nearly every post of mine in recent weeks (months?) has been about talking to God. But when I look at other people's ideas, its either about manifesting: A better job A relationship That parking space you always wanted Money Peace and wellbeing I just wanted to make a request to somebody, who really has this manifestation stuff down, and feels like he/she could create whatever they desire if they focused enough. While I myself haven't managed to talk to God...I believe that someone out there could on my behalf, and on the behalf of countless others. If that person learned to talk to God, these are the potential benefits that would derive from that conversation. Through God's wisdom and understanding, someone could learn how to: Use the law of attraction perfectly Use intuition perfectly (As a result of the first two) Be perfectly capable of manifesting money, a great job, a relationship Act as a channel to give people a perfect understanding of their problems Learn schematics and designs that could revolutionize several industries (energy, agriculture, computer) Cure cancer (among many other things) So to me that sounds better than most common goals, and would be a great investment of time. Of course I understand why people strive for the common goals; its because they don't have faith that they can create something truly big. And yet all of the important LOA material (notably Abraham Hicks and Conversations with God) say that people are entirely capable of doing these things and more...i.e. "ye are Gods", or "you can be, do or have anything you want". So I was just hoping. Is there someone out there...someone who perhaps teaches LOA a lot on these forums, who has a deep understanding of how it works and has created things on the past, who could learn how to talk to God? -OR- If you can talk to your spirit guide or higher self, you can talk to God through that spirit guide! Anyways hopefully someone is able...if not I'll keep trying to repeat "I can communicate with God" maybe 100 times a day at least Last edited by radscorpion8; 12-13-2011 at 11:56 PM. |

God has spoken to me before. Like, Him Him. But God comes to you in HIS time, not yours. No one can make Him. there's just some things we aren't quite ready for, even if we think we are or feel we are. Just continue to do your best to be your best and when the time is right He'll show up and help you. That's really all the info I can give you. P.S: Most people won't even want to hear what I'm saying and then this might spark the conversation of God, who or what he she it is, what it means, etc. Not now. I'm out. lol |

I've read all the Coversation with God (CWG) books and loved each one. I even used the same method as Neale did to "talk" to God, and it worked for me.... anybody can do this, God is very available to anyone, at anytime... you just have to be willing to listen.

| Yeah that first book is really good, I've read it at least 3 times, and can't wait to go back and read it again. One other important thing about these books is AS you read them, you're actually having a direct experience of God, so these are not just books, it's more of an experiential thing, but no matter how you look at it, the first book, if you really want it to, can change your world for the better.

I guess I find it kind of confusing. Also I read conversations with god :P. The advice it gives I have problems following (the manifesting stuff asks you to have the certainty that Jesus did...which is extremely difficult to achieve, and I can't force myself to) and I need clarity on quite a few points besides that. I remember one passage that said if you repeat a thought, or a word, often enough it becomes manifested in your reality. That was echoed by Abraham Hicks. I really really liked that passage... But every time I set myself up to repeat something 1000 times for an hour straight it fails. Maybe I could try it for intervals, but then it just feels weak. Like how long do I repeat it...and then I have doubts as to whether it'll work or not based on some other thoughts I may not be consciously aware of. So I thought maybe someone else can do it! Well I'll keep hoping/trying. Thanks everyone for the input!

Now in terms of "ask and it shall be given". Keep asking and strive to be your best possible self. He might be talking to you now, just not the way you expect. Talk all the time, when you can and above all move from the best part of yourself. When he spoke to me I had hit rock bottom and was ANGRY that I had done everything, sought and asked and knocked and the door seemingly wasn't opened. But that doesn't necessarily have to be the case with you. God moves in mysterious ways. But pay attention to your everyday life. The most seemingly mundane often have the most extraordinary of answers. All the best rad.

God doesnt only speak in words, he speaks in everything that happens around you. Whether it be a feeling, a thought, a certain lyric in the next song you hear. When you change your assumption of what God is then you will hear him Read the book in the post above yours as it explains all of this in greater detail |

radscorpion8, What if you ARE communicating with God, but perhaps just not aware of what God is saying? Communication isn't just verbal. If people can communicate nonverbally, can't God communicate nonverbally as well? The fact that you are trying to hear an audible voice is a limitation. Additionally, it seems you are trying too hard. Manifestations are based on our consciousness. Every negative thing that is happening in your life is a manifestation which started somewhere in your subconscious thinking. The key is to mentally shift your subconscious thinking into the positive. It must be tamed to do your bidding, instead of running on negative autopilot. Affirmations work to do this, but the affirmation must be believable to you, and it mustn't feel like a chore (if you're counting how many times you did the affirmation, that's an indication you're making it worse for yourself). It must be fun, natural, believable and resonate with you. To make it believable, you could say, "I choose to clearly listen God" Maybe you could use this, "I choose to be harmoniously aligned with God and" BTW - could it be that God is speaking to you right now, through these words? I encourage you to be open to the possibility! |

I very much identify with your need to search beyond what you may have been taught or identifed with LoA. Over the years, I've come to realize that much I've been taught about religion does not help me live the life I want. I realized that in order to see changes in my life I had to consider BEING THE CHANGE I WANT TO SEE CREATED. This is exactly what Jesus revealed with His life and teaching. BE THE CHANGE. You are seeking the very "Truth that shall set you free."....and that is NOT limited to a self-approved credo of beliefs expoused in some religious tradition's scripture, filled with sanctioned interpretations about it. It may surprise you to know that it is the Spirit of God ALREADY in us Who reveals the Truth of Himself to us, not church attendance, or church rules, or church traditions. "Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened unto you." Then I came across a set of books by Baird T. Spalding which changed how I see EVERYTHING. It's one of the references I'm quoting. It has changed my life. I invite you to take a look at them. I strongly believe they will have a similar effect on yours. (especially when you get to page 21 of Vol 1)! Why? PLEASE CONSIDER VERY CAREFULLY WHAT YOUR PLEA MEANS: "So I was just hoping. Is there someone out there...someone who perhaps teaches LOA a lot on these forums, who has a deep understanding of how it works and has created things on the past, who could learn how to talk to God?" I hope you are able to see, but more importantly, FEEL, that there is, MUCH MORE TO LIFE, as told to Horatio by Hamlet in Shakespeare's play of the same name: "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." What things ?? As author Baird Spalding says in the reference, ”Becoming aware of yourself as a spiritual being, offspring of an infinite spiritual system and one with all the powers and capacities within that system, is the very essence of attainment. To grow from the present state of awareness of himself as a material being and into the consciousness that he is a spiritual being contains the full secret of man's attainment.' Man's nature cannot be reversed for he always remains a spiritual being. He can only reverse his notion of himself. Instead of doing this, he should reverse his mistaken idea that he is a material being and retain the truth that he is a spiritual being created in the image and likeness of God." That paragraph ALONE should hint that YOU ARE, as an IMMORTAL, OMNIPRESENT SPIRITUAL BEING, CERTAINLY MORE than you have been taught, and INFINITELY MORE than you may have THOUGHT ! Our Creator did NOT create human beings as scientists, or philosophers, or Romans, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Catholics, Protestants; Hindu, “untouchable” dalits, orthodox, secular; light skinned, dark skinned; believers, infidels, saved, unsaved or any other designations or philosophies that we associate with these OR ANY OTHER names. We are NOT the names we call ourselves or others, though we act AS IF we ARE...instead of remembering Who we, and each other, actually are. Such designations, erroneously believed and acted upon as if relevant, serve to hide the truth that our Creator created each one of us OF HIS VERY SPIRIT AND AS HIS IMAGE. However, if your search has taken you this far, you probably realize that amassing EVEN immense wealth is really only...."SMALL POTATOES" compared to the true breadth of our God-given potential... As a matter of fact.....achieving those goals are just as NATURAL an ACCOMPANIMENT to one's correct use of the universal Law of Attraction....as is the phrase "You shall reap what you sow".....for good OR ill. Why ?? Because if... "Becoming aware of yourself as a spiritual being, offspring of an infinite spiritual system and one with all the powers and capacities within that system"....and discovering that... ....."Your mind is the mirror in which the infinite power and intelligence of the universe sees itself reproduced.", (see the last sentence in Chapter 13 of the second source, "Your Invisible Power"). .....Need I even mention the ramifications of the word "INFINITE" in the context of MIRRORING such power and intelligence WITHIN one's OWN mind, let alone what it means to become aware that you are ALREADY one with all the powers and capacities within such a system ??? .....and that IS, and has ALWAYS been, EVERYONE'S birthright....from the beginning ?? Why, then, would anyone want to limit themselves to merely amassing (i.e. getting) wealth or asking someone else to manifest for us, what we have ALL been given the power and capability to bring into existence through us ?? What you seek is, and has always been available within you. "With all thy getting.....get understanding" Know Thyself. The Creator Himself IS the very pattern by which mankind was made. Jesus' message and reason for coming to this earthly dimension was to show us, in as stark, as uncompromising, and as definitive a manner as possible, that we are as He is, which is as our Creator endowed us all to be, and that is as immortal, Spiritual beings who are the Spirit and Image of our Creator. We are NOT physical beings. We are Spiritual Beings like He is! Our Father created Jesus just as He created us...the exact Spirit and Likeness of Himself. We are PERFECTLY CREATED SPIRITUAL BEINGS, who have forgotten Who we are. If we really thought about it, if the accomplishment of miracles was not ALSO based on perfect, unchangeable principles, Jesus would not have been able to truthfully say to us, "Greater things than these shall you also do." Not so just one person can do it (Him), but so that anybody could do it, following relevant principles. We must RE-awaken to the knowledge that OUR OWN PERFECTION within this infinite Spiritual system is ALREADY the established order of things....and act accordingly. The fact is, that Man, created as the very Spirit and Image of the Creator, Himself.....IS the MIRACLE.... As thus created, it becomes apparent that our true heritage is not only within our grasp.....but that our reach, in truth.........IS INFINITE !! Though WE may have forgotten Who we, and each other are, we are yet Sons and Daughters of the Most High. Again, we are Who the Creator is in Spirit....not subservient adherents to whatever religion or philosophy we profess to include ourselves. As such, we could only, and always, be: "Beloved of our Creator"..........never coerced or forsaken by our Creator. The most sacred homage to the Truth of that Love that you can offer is to honor the I AM within yourself by loving the I AM Who is equally omnipresent within ALL your Brothers and Sisters throughout the Earth.... THAT IS WORSHIP......which requires no ritual or ceremony OR religion whatsovever; just a loving heart willing to do so and is worthy of a Creator who lovingly created us ALL out of His Own Perfect Divine pattern; Who includes us ALL within Himself; and Who loves each one of us as Himself... That's how we were ALL created..... by the One Who loves us so much that He has given us His Own power.... .....to love Him and EACH OTHER back.....by ourselves.....for ourselves....by OUR choice. It is not religion's "job" or a church's "duty" to do OR be this for us....these are only tools whose best purpose can only be to lift us BEYOND their teachings, not to bind us TO their teachings. So we can know the REAL TEACHER inside us all.... .....Who shows us, THROUGH our lives, how to be His perfect, loving message WITH our lives..... Again, it is the Spirit of God already IN us Who reveals the Truth of Himself to us. ....as Jesus, Himself discovered, and LIVES, even this very day, while you are reading this, and Who would have ALL OF US know and understand the Truth OF ourselves, FOR ourselves..... "Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be opened unto you." You are the door.... Hope this, and the sources below, help you find the light you seek...ESPECIALLY the first reference by Baird Spalding, as well as Chapter IV, entitled “Subjective and Objective Mind” in the third reference, “The Edinburgh Lectures on Mental Science”, and "The Dore Lectures on Mental Science" by Thomas Troward Life and Teaching of the Masters of the Far East (Vols 1-6) by Baird Spalding http://www.lightisreal.com/YourInvisiblePower.pdf http://freeselfhelpvideos.com/ebooks/eloms.pdf http://www.smartwomeninvest.com/dore.pdf Last edited by guthrio; 12-14-2011 at 02:26 AM.

I particularly like Baird T. Spalding, and am fascinating by the books, but I also think it's important to not come off as imposing your own spiritual views upon another, even if the teachings of the far east may be right. Just a thought.

Thanks for your own thoughts and interesting post.....which I hope you agree falls into the same category of "being an opinion" as my post does, with no more power to "impose" upon anyone who chooses to use it as any other post in this, or any other, thread. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'll check out those books that were linked! They may have some useful information to me, or an alternative way of realizing I can talk to God. I like the idea of changing my perception of myself from being just a human looking to talk to God towards being an infinite being who has all the answers he needs, its an approach I did not consider. In the end its really a matter of preference, about which would make things work better. And I think you might be right Jason, because in "conversations with god" it says you can repeat a thought hundreds, thousands of times and that it will become your reality. Then Neale asks "but what if I don't believe that thought?", and God responds "Then find a thought you can believe", which calls into question the idea that repeating *any* thought enough can make it manifest. Just about the only thing I can find that is universally supported is the idea of feeling positive and attracting positive situations including a conversation with God. So yeah that's what I'm trying right now, actually. I just have to not doubt it for the week that I practise it. Whatever the result is I don't know, maybe I'll see who I "really am" or God will start talking to me, but it should be good. Also Prinie has a good understanding of what I'm looking for :P. Its definitely possible God is talking through these posts to me, or through the radio or various other means...the problem is I have no way of confirming that. So I could end up making a mistake and following something that in the end is just a random radio message, which will lead to problems down the road because my life is just blindly following messages that I feel might be God's. I actually tried living like that for a little while, and it was probably the most frustrating period of my life, and I hated myself for being so irrational and insane. Anyways glad thats over!! (No offense lol - if you have a way of making it work for you more power to you, its just I happen to be particularly skeptical and doubtful back then) |

Many people don't believe they can talk to God, so they don't try to manifest that. Or they do, but they're so attached to a specific outcome--they want a booming voice from the sky, or some intense mystical experience--that they can't recognize all the ways in which God actually is speaking to them (and always has been). Quote:
Engaging in a conversation? That can take time and practice to learn how to recognize when you're getting answers and in what form. Learning to trust emotions, intuition, and sudden flashes of insight or new ideas, and recognize them as messages, goes against what we're taught. It's not irrational, but it is non-rational, and it can feel like you're going crazy. That can bring up a lot of anxiety, so a lot of people shut down by going back to a strictly rational worldview. There's a reason most mystics in Western culture were (and still are) perceived as being various degrees of nuts by "normal" people; once you start communicating freely with God, most mundane, worldly concerns cease to matter. Many of them--including the ones most people regard with the utmost seriousness--become a joke. And once that door's cracked open and you've got even a glimpse of eternity, you can't un-see it and go back to being the person you were. So I ask people like you, "Are you really sure you want to open that conversation up all the way? Because it will shake up your life and relationships with other people in ways you can't even begin to imagine--and there's no going back." Quote:
Quote:
Quote:
It's like trying to manifest a conversation with someone, but you're determined that it must be via email. So you keep checking your email. But in the meantime, you're letting all of your phone calls go to voice mail (and never checking your messages) because you've decided they're irrelevant. The person you desperately want to communicate with might be calling you a dozen times a day, wanting to speak with you, but you're so fixated on email that you don't see that, and then you wonder why they're uncommunicative. Quote:
And no, you can't force yourself to have certainty; having to force it means you still have doubts. You gain certainty through experience--by attempting I-M until you find the techniques that work for you, and get good at it. Quote:
One technique I use is to replace doubts or limiting beliefs with better ways of thinking is to either speak or write an affirmative statement of intention 100 times* in a row. And in that process, I do experience doubt. Sometimes it's the thought that "this is stupid." Sometimes it's boredom, wanting to stop and go do something else rather than stick it out for the full 100 repetitions. Sometimes it's painful cramps in my writing hand that make writing difficult almost from the start--even though I normally have no trouble writing 15-20 pages longhand. The trick, I've found, is to stick with it, to keep pushing onward despite the doubt. Recognize the doubts, acknowledge them, and don't try to fight them (because that only strengthens them)--just keep on speaking or writing in spite of them. By the time I'm done, doubts have usually long since faded into the background. If I still feel like they're lingering, I might examine them, asking myself why they're there and what might be a more effective phrase for overwriting them, but most of the time they're gone for good by the time I'm done. *For me, 1000 repetitions of one phrase would be overkill. It sounds exhausting! So if I'm trying to replace an old belief, I'll do multiple sessions with variations on the new belief I want to embed, coming at it from slightly different angle each time.

So don't push it too hard. Recognize and accept what messages you can, as you can. Play with it. You'll figure it out eventually. Part of it is learning to use your emotions as a guidance system, which goes against everything you've been taught (especially if you're male). And by that I don't mean wallowing in your feelings, but rather learning to see them as information. For example, if you've been offered a job that, on the surface, looks good, but when you think about it you feel depressed, tired, uninspired, trapped, or some other negative feeling, that's a sign that you shouldn't take it. If you get an idea for a business or creative project, and you feel excited and energized by it, that's a sign that you should put it into action. Keep moving toward and embracing the things that bring up positive feelings for you, and avoid getting entangled in things that bring up feelings of fear, anger, shame, or other negative emotions. You might receive guidance through other means, but what Abe-Hicks calls the "emotional guidance system" is the most basic means of tapping in to divine guidance. If you can learn to use it effectively, that alone will be an enormous help to you.

Excellent, new posts :P. Unfortunately no one yet who can talk to God for me (and themselves and others), but I would like to address some new points raised! Magical Realist: Most of this below is just tangential discussion about what I mean on various subjects. Its kind of irrelevant in terms of my broader interest, but if you're interested in how I approach this read on! Quote:
Quote:
I like the idea of working on a smaller level. I have tried this before but gave up because it didn't seem to be going anywhere. I used to have a deck of cards to perform an experiment where I go through 13 numbers in my head and ask to feel positive emotion when that number I'm thinking of is equal to the number on the card I'm holding face down. But I don't feel anything, or it turns out to be wrong. Instead I have opted for a law of attraction approach, where if I stay positive enough or repeat a thought (affirmation) enough, I will be able to hear God talking to me in my head. The process is slightly simpler, doesn't require so much trial and error, and in the end I won't be limited to emotional responses but full-fledged sentences explaining things in detail. Suffice to say it hasn't met with much success. So I have asked for outside help. Quote:
Quote:
But there's a question of effectiveness. Is the Law of Attraction, as it currently exists and with the current explanations that have been given about its inner workings, sufficient for people to start creating the life of their dreams? I would say in most cases no. People are generally confused, and find it difficult to apply. If someone learns how to talk to God, in theory (because God is all knowing and all powerful), God would be able to clearly explain (through the channel) how people can use the LOA to their advantage. Secondary benefits would be innumerable to society. Curing various diseases (including cancer), inventing technologies to considerably reduce global warming and avoid the imminent ecological crisis, giving people the tools to never live in poverty again? Yes these things in theory could be done with the LOA - but I imagine it would be easier if God could just talk to you and explain how they could be eliminated, complete with an action plan and set of ideas to use in conjunction with the LOA. Currently, the LOA on its own hasn't eliminated any of these major world problems. But I imagine God could. I don't really have a problem with materialism. I just want people to be able to live the life of their dreams (respecting their free will of course) without the confusion that the LOA has inadvertently brought about so far. If in the process of talking to God they find things better than materialism, so be it. I really just want clear, accessible information to help people. Quote:
With this in mind, what possible reason could there be for God talking to me in ways that I don't expect, or find vague and confusing, when I specifically ask for something that is simple and immediately comprehensible? There seems to be a strong implication here of limitations, that if I choose to talk to God it must be through vague, emotional or intuitive understandings of human made signs and sounds that I can misunderstand. What kind of God would I be, if I can't manifest a conversation in my head? That I can't be a specific God? Besides that, I have openly asked God to talk to me in any way he deems fit, so long as it is *clear* to me. That is, I don't want to have to decipher whether an ad on the radio is meant for me or not based on a vague feeling that I'm having. God can send an e-mail, phone me, appear as an apparition, or communicate to me through morse code via a blinking light on my keyboard (seriously). That hasn't happened :P. But I still hope! Quote:
Also thank you for your affirmation ideas. I think the best choice for now is for me to stay positive (as Abraham says that's all you need to do!). So if I can truly trust Abraham as a divine messenger...there's really no better option. My skepticism always pops up and tells me to do something else besides being positive though. I think my problem is that I don't stick to any of my ideas...which you have made very clear to me. So that's what I'll try. In the end invoking God to clarify things and help people may be unnecessary, maybe all I really needed to do (and should ask of other people) is to stay positive as long as I can, stubbornly continuing until I've done it for a few months...and then experience the results (hopefully). That's what I loved about Abraham, they were the only ones to clearly outline something simple that would work. I just hope they are a real source of channeled information. But from my experiences and conversations with others I think they are. *sigh* anyways I tire of my own thread. I'll probably go away and stay positive. I may come back to peruse the forums and maybe check out any other posts...but I'll probably be relaxing on my couch feeling as positive as I can. Good day people!
