So I'm out of town, visiting a client's operations. I have stayed at this particular hotel many times before on similar visits. This hotel has a small breakfast buffet setup, serving the same menu items it served in the past. Grabbing a plate, I trudged along the breakfast line. I opened the hood to the tray of food, and voila, I saw two items I really did not want to eat: (1) sausage links; and (2) folded eggs with melted cheese. It's not that I don't like such food, if well made in a good tasty way. However, my strong memory of this particular breakfast setup at this hotel, from many times before, is that the egg-cheese fold had a weird, tangy after-taste that made it taste bad. As well, I remember quite well that the sausage didn't taste like real sausage--just some funky molded-together meat with a bad flavor. Faced with the choice of going hungry or eating food that tasted badly, I thought of the LoA, Intention-Manifestation, and the power of auto-suggestion/affirmations. In the flash of a moment, I stared down at the eggs and sausage and repeated several times in my mind words to the effect: "this food tastes delicious...this food tastes so good...delicious, delicious, delicious food!" Half amused at the silliness of the whole affair, I filled my plate with the egg-cheese fold and sausage and went back to my table. I sat down and ate the food. Guess what? Both the egg-cheese fold and the sausage tasted utterly delicious! No cheesy, tangy after-taste or fake-sausage flavor. I thought, "wow." I chalk this good experience up to the power of autosuggestion. I'm sure that perception of taste is an easy matter to alter with mind power. You all probably have probably done this many times before, working with auto suggestion and food. While this matter seems trivial, I'm telling you, it blew my mind--that's how bad it tasted before and how good it tasted this morning. Last edited by Balbrae; 11-16-2011 at 01:36 PM. |

I refuse to eat any food not to my taste. My food has to be both nutritious and delicious. One can go without food for a month so I haven't needed to sacrifice enjoyment of food yet. However, I do use auto suggestion for nutrition. I only sin if it's worth it. e.g. I can't stand cheap candies and other sweet junk. If I should get fat from eating sweet, it better be rich decadent dessert or the best chocolate. I am open to eating certain delicious but nutritionally questionable food if it were served to me free. So their consumption is very limited as I never buy them myself. Though nutritionally conscious, I'm not 100% rigid but would auto suggest that I would only benefit from what I eat and all possible undesirable contents would not be absorbed and integrated with me at all. BTW, I am the healthiest person I know. |
