I think that the great power of prayer is that is helps you gain clarity, amplitude, and resonance with your thoughts in regards to what you want. Thoughts do become things, so prayer is simply the "asking" step to the Universe/God/Source Energy in ultimately allowing them bring to you what you want to have.

In the hit-movie The Secret, one of the teachers explained a 3-step process for achieving what you want:

1. Ask
2. Believe
3. Receive

Prayer is the first step to this formula. It is getting clarity on what experiences and possessions you do want to bring into your life. It is getting into resonance with your desires helping ultimately attract them to you.

However, if you do not believe you can achieve it and you do not open yourself up to receive it, then all prayers will be a lost cause because you've only completed the first step and have not started in the path to completing the following two.

The listener of all prayers is the Universe (or God or Source Energy -- whatever you want to call it). Truly, it's all considered the same thing, and when prayer is mixed with belief, desire and expectation, than the source you directed your prayers to will answer back with the manifestation of what you wanted.

Prayers may be asked in a state of lack as you mention, but the truth from the eyes from the person who is praying is that they are aware that they can achieve and attract whatever it is they want into their life by virtue of what they think of or speak of in their prayers.

They are not feeling a state of lack. In asking for what they want, they are moving onto the frequency of what they want and getting into a feeling of resonance with that which they want to manifest.

The aware individual knows that he possesses a great infinite power, as do all other men; and this infinite power -- when utilized correctly -- can be called upon to summon all the abundance and yearned desires into his life that he has prayed for would appear.

They know that in a perceived reality, if a state of lack exists, that they can change their circumstances and results if they want to simply by "asking" the Universe for what they want.

This asking is communicated by virtue of prayer.

For the scientist and not the idealist, prayers are never heard by someone or something, yet they are always answered. This is because all one is referring to by "The Universe" or "God" or "Source Energy" is pure energy itself. Science has proven that like attracts like and when to emitting energies are on the same frequency, then by Law they are drawn together.

Prayers can save a human life. There have been "miracle cures" for people who have been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Regardless of whether they were taking medication or not, terminal caner is considered "untreatable," meaning that the cause of the problem cannot be cured. However, in many miraculous cases, people have survived and lived gallantly through times of terminal illness to ultimately overcome it.

When more than two people gather together to pray for one thing or another to happen, the energy that they are emitting is simply amplified to the universe and will get more of a direct response from the Answerer.

Therefore, in times of war and battle, when two sides are both praying to overcome the resistance of the other side, whichever army is more in-sync in completeless amongst its soldiers usually wins while the less-harmonious army perishes bravely in battle.

In a sense, we are praying by default. Thoughts are always what are being "asked" to the Universe, and in return their is always an answer, for this is the Law of Cause and Effect. However, praying helps give us calmness, peace of mind, and clarity regarding what we want, along with time to ensure control over our thoughts and where we are not mere subjects to "mental activity".

Can we pray to the deceased, you ask? I'd say yes.

You must understand that every individual who walks this Earth:

• IS a spiritual being;
• HAS an intellect; and
• LIVES in a physical body.

You are not your body, but while you're "alive," you live inside of it.

Spirit is energy or movement; body is the manifestation of that movement. While no being occupies their body after death, they will always be alive in spirit because spirit is energy and energy is equally present in all places at the same time and is neither created nor destroyed.

While living, all you have control over is the rate of vibration and what you attract into your life.

Before this explanation given above on spirit, mind, body assembly I was in the dark . I am now begining to understand the fundamentals of being born first with the spirit and then the housing of the spirit in the flesh and blood body and the tenure of the spirit within the lifespan of that given as if for each individual a differnt pay packet of time on this earth.

A further question would be to determine on who decides on the length of the life time span on earth of the spirit within the housing....
If there is a sudden uncalled for tenure end - death....who decides on this action. The mind, the body or the spirit who is which is God inferred et al.
What if there is an accident....
