Default How to negate negative thoughts?

I'm inexperienced with this, I also happen to be a worrier.

So, if I think I don't want something to happen, I start being afraid of something happening, and start worrying about it, what can I do to stop it from manifesting? Would positive thoughts overrule it, or is the idea already out there?

You are attracting in the NOW, so your thoughts NOW are attracting what is coming. If you change your focus in the now, you will stop moving towards anything negative you were moving towards. It's just resonance. Whatever vibration you are offering because of your focus, is attracting an experience that matches it. Whether that is a desirable experience or an undesirable experience can be ascertained by how you are feeling. So always feel your way to thoughts that feel like relief.

The most important thing for me, when I start worrying about something, is to realise that I don't have to feed energy to those worrisome thoughts. It's as simple as that - realise that those thoughts you have hold no substance apart from your attention to them, and realise that you are free to choose better-feeling thoughts. There is a time delay in manifesting, so it's not like you're going to think one negative thought and it's going to happen. It's enough to just gently let go of the thought and focus on something else.

Have you tried any methods like EFT, Sedona Method or Emotrance? Could be helpful to you.

Theories are nice, but when you are gripped by fears, you need practical things to do, not lofty ideas. So here is one that works like a charm for me, and I am otherwise hard to please in this regard. You simply tell your worrying mind: "Let the Universe take care of that!" or "Let the Universe figure that part of the plan out!" For me, most of my tendency to worry is over the "how" of it. Since, under the LoA, we are not to fuss about the "how" of because it's the Universe's job to handle that part, all we need do is have a vision, and take basic action in the general direction of that vision. As for the particulars or the "parade-of-horribles" that plays in our minds, just let that go. It's easy to do by saying "let the Universe handle those worries--it's conspiring on my behalf for my benefit, so I need not worry."

These types of statements really help calm a worried mind! You can pick up Mike Dooley's audio book, Manifesting Change It Couldn't Be Easier for more on this idea. He has great stories about his fear of getting fired from his job, and how he visualized himself smiling at the office, instead, to combat getting fired. He talks ALL about not "messing with the cursed hows."

Yes, positive thoughts do replace negative thoughts. But, more importantly, you have to replace your negative vibe with a positive, calm, knowing one. You can't hold the same fearful energy and speak positive affirmations from that anxious place, it will simply backfire.

So basically, work on your overall attitude/energy being positive rather than your thoughts, per se. You don't wanna end up chanting positive words in your head while the energy you emit keeps repelling the positive from revealing itself.

By changing habit to think positive. Thinking negative thoughts is habit. To change it is a matter of training. It's not easy but it can be done

I find when I'm in a funk, the no thank you thing works better for me.

I'm trying to think of a good metaphor, but nothing is coming to mind....

Say you're really tired, in a bad mood, just in a funk. It's a lot easier to reach that middle neutral position first, then to try to get way over to the positive side.

Then later when I'm more in that neutral section, I can get to that positive section a lot easier.

a few questions...from what perspective and belief is "negative" in your world and sef view? are negative and positive thoughts, in essence, so different from one another? adjectives....describing an attached personal value?
what causes the need for energy to be placed in the realm of worry versus the realm of being whole and perfect as you are right this moment?
when anxiety, worry or any other red flag emotion begins forming in your thoughts/heart/soul, recognize it, address it as such, "ah, worry, my ole friend that pesters the hell out of me and for what...what am I doing entertaining this company that so drains me..." or "of course this body and mind feel worry, that's what it does because it has been trained that way..., guess what, my friend, we are going to go begin a new lesson right this damn minute..."
can you imagine at this moment, no matter what your circumstances or envirnoment, that you are as perfect in this Now as you need to be as you have evolved to this Now moment to be perfect.... imagine that your essence has evolved to this Now and no matter what occurs, no matter the outside or internal stimuli, your essence is whole...worrying, questioning, what ifs, [insert gerund],
what need is there to "worry"... take action, even if at first that action is of only recognition; yet proceed so that the recognition becomes the trigger for seeing "worry" or whatever other illusion as a stepping stone to greater things to come.
explore your processes of stimuli, response and inernalization; develop what works and be open to loving and accepting yourself, thoughts and feelings at this moment....accepting does not mean stagnation or victimization, acceptance is appreciation, knowledge and a layer to the foundation of future appreciation

Find something to do. Something meaningful on your "unfinished business" list, not something trivial just to keep yourself distracted from your worrying. To use the self is to forget the self.
