Yes, I guess, everybody knows the answer is, “Over Eating”. Now the question arises why I am overly eating? Many researchers found that getting Fat is Psychological problem rather than physical one. Like, if the person is in depression then in order to avoid the depression he eats a lot. When I read the Farouk’s article on Fat, I searched my mind content for the same and shockingly, I found the same reason in me. I always feared of getting bored. I don’t know why. In order to avoid getting bored I pass my time in eating other stuff. Another strange thing I observed about myself is that, I am not eating when I am hungry and also eating when my stomach is full. Farouk also mentioned about the depression i.e. due to depression person over eats. I don’t think I am over eating due to depression. Then I again thought of what is the reason of getting bored? What does getting bored means to me? What value I have assigned to this? After asking these entire questions to me I found that, not using time for proper work means I am useless. That’s all, but I don’t think so this is the proper answer for this questions. I actually don’t know why I am getting bored so much. May be I lacked the goals to achieve in my life. According to me another problem could be developing ‘bad habit’ of over eating. E.g. food is cooking but still I go and eat handful of groundnuts as I like the taste of it. Though I had the proper lunch at office but still I have the something snacks just I liked the taste and that’s all. Phewwww….I have ruled out every possible reason of getting fat, lastly I did not come to any concrete conclusion. But the good news is I have started Gym from today. Thank God. |

Good for you. I also used to eat because of boredom. I think I was afraid that if I was bored I would start thinking about things that I have been avoiding thinking about. What I did was let myself feel bored but not try to feel better by eating. Eventually the feeling of boredom went away. I still get bored sometimes but very seldom. Overeating is a way to not think so much. If you eat fatty food, your mind slows down and it's difficult to think for a while. This is because a large part of the blood in your body has gone to the stomach to break down the food. I switched to a vegan diet and just worked on letting myself feel what I have been avoiding. I believe that many people who are overweight have emotional pain they have not dealt with. |

There have been some interesting findings in neuroscience about how food can generate reactions in the brain. Former FDA Commissioner, David Kessler wrote a fascinating book about how fat, salt and sugar light up specific areas of the brain that are responsible for addiction. For many who are intolerant of gluten and casein, these act like an opiate on the brain and even though ingesting them cause great discomfort they nonetheless generate a profound craving. My point being that perhaps some kind of neurological response is involved. Perhaps you can use I/M to get to your answer. Good luck. |

dont keep "snacks" in the house. You cant eat them then. Between lunch and dinner, have a snack. But keep it healthy... Maybe some apples and pb. Many morbidly obese people are malnurished because of the lack of nurtiction is what they do eat, and the effect their obesity has on their body. Im speaking as a health care worker, and as someone who has lost 70 lbs over the past 8 years. |
