Gosh, up to $10,000 today! I can't think of anything to spend it on, believe it or not, so I'll hang on to this today. And, might I add, this is a GREAT feeling! The feeling of having paid off all obligations, having some new clothes (I'm not a big clothes person, so the amount I spent was fine), having a cute new second-hand car to scoot around in, my child enrolled in an appropriate school, having a holiday all arranged... it's all good. I hope to hold on to this feeling all the time, regardless of my (actual/apparent) situation. The feeling that there is always plenty of money and that I don't necessarily need to spend anything or pay anything, etc., is delicious. |

My 7k today went, with my 6k from yesterday, toward paying off my student loan in full. I find myself relieved to not have to think of what to spend my money on today... why?! Isn't that wacky? Wow, can I reasonably do that for my retirement? |

| The calculator says you can! The key is the $2k contributions. Without them, the $120k only makes it to $40k Of course, you can always do ERE. That will get you there in as soon as 5 years. I love the community and I follow the blog, but the kind of life I want to live can't be contained by such a philosophy. Early Retirement Extreme: — The choice nobody ever told you about |

Saved money from yesterday was $10,000. With today's $11000, that makes $21,000. When I think about what to spend it on, a number of things come to mind, but most are just material stuff, and while I like shiny things as much as the next person, I'm not really that interested in just collecting more and more stuff. I will buy myself a good ergooimic chair today, a decent computer desk, and a photographic quality scanner. I'm spending around $4000 on all that, which brings my total down to $17,000 right now. The thing is, what I actually want is to move into a decent sized home, a minimum of four bedrooms, preferably with a two-car garage and a family room, and a good place to put a piano (you need an inside wall, or the changes in temperature and humidity can cause the piano to lose its tune all the time, or so I am told). Houses where I live are pricey, though, so I'm going to hold on to my money and save it up for a while and then decide what to do with it. |

So now we have a house, a bed, furniture, great clothes, high tech toys, and are all vacay'ed out. And I have another 11,000 to enjoy. Life's pretty sweet! Honestly the next big step is the wedding... We've been talking about it for a good while now, but the stars just weren't aligned. Now, being within reasonable distance of our families, with an easier administrative path and a load of cash, it's perfect. This is the dress I want. Minus the lace hem and worn with a dark orange petticoat. Short Wedding Dress Dolly Couture Beverlywood Silk | DollyCouture.com We also have a fairly decent idea of what we want the reception to be like (my grandparents' backyard, few people, laid back, no table plan and no dumb traditions) and I have some very definitive thoughts on the catering. We also both have very simple taste in jewelry and don't like bling. It may take time to find the rings we want, but not much money. All in all it will be a relatively inexpensive process so with all the extra money I will just buy myself the luxury of a wedding planner to handle all last minute crises, so I have no crap to deal with on D day! In other manifestation news, the boy is one of a handful last standing for a sweet job in Germany. They ok'd his salary expectations, too. It's quite generous. If (if? when!) it pans out it will be the best thing to happen to us in months. |
