I just recently bought and viewed the new 2 DVD set release from Esther and Jerry Hicks - "The Secret Behind The Secret". This is a new film that provides a fresh perspective on the phenomenon surrounding the secret. I've provieded a review on my site... but here's a quote from Abraham that attempts to put everything in perspective: “To call the Law of Attraction a secret is compatible to calling gravity a secret, as if you could keep it’s obvious results from being noticed.... We smile in our awareness that the movie called ‘The Secret’ is still not revealing the secret.” You can read my review here. |

It's funny how everyone is trying to sway the Secret fans to their way - Jack Canfield, Esther Hicks, James Ray - it's kind of disgusting if you think about it. Sheep...All sheep. | |

Personally, it's all fine. Everyone can chip in their two cents. Some have great ideas, but someone else may think of a better way of presenting it, so that someone, who didn't understand it, before, can understand it now. Others get it, the first time, with a particular version. It doesn't bother me that the Hick's, Esther, and Jerry, are putting out their own version. They've probably got some good points to discuss, but their attempt to diminish Rhonda's version, by saying that "to call The Secret a Secret, is comparable to calling the Law of Gravity a secret, because their is no secret at all." Diminishes them, in my eyes. Was it a secret? Well, it was certainly a secret from me! I, for one, am so grateful for The Secret, made by Rhonda, to have come out, in exactly the form, and time it did. It certainly changed me, and in turn, changed my whole world. The Hick's version, will probably be good too, and I'll probably watch it, and gain some insights, and grow from it. I certainly hope I do. It all adds up to power to the people! |

Personally I think The Secret was good, but I wouldn't watch another film similar to it, its goodbut it requries alot of the blanks to be filled in. And if your a total newbie to LoA then your just gonna get lost in the feel good blabber interspersed throughout the film and miss the main points.

How about this folks. Esther and Jerry Channeled their original audio from abraham in 1986 or late 80's anyway. I believe that The Secret, The Law Of Attration, Science of the mind, What the bleep do we know? are all speaking of one thing. We cannot get upset about who does what with the information they have discovered. This would be similar to saying every time travel movie that has come out since Back to the Future was stealing their idea. I believe that a good idea is just that and when people expand on your ideas you can only be happy to see it catching like wild fire. Chris Good Luck in all that you do! I think the criticism (if we can call it that) has to do with the title and with Esther's participation in the original version of The Secret (which made it far more excellent than the second version) and the reasons for which she was edited out. Jerry and Esther could have made their own movie explaining the LoA per Abraham without taking shots at The Secret, which ironically goes against the teachings of Abraham. |

I don't thinks its really sickening at all. It's called "different strokes for different folks" Not everyone is exactly the same. Some people prefer feel good fluff to facts and figures. Some people want to hear about how all the informatiion was channeled through divine spirits. The Secret is more of a primer than it is a comprehensive guide to LoA. I've read many of the Ester Hicks series and I believe she is much more thorough on providing exercises and "backup information" (basically her own scripture) than anything else I've read. Maybe she is trying to provide an intermediate or advanced video guide instead of a primer? Don't be so quick to judge everyone's efforts as selfish and only for monetary gain. The truth is that you don't know her intentions and she deserves the benefit of the doubt just like anyone else does. I would prefer to live in a world where action aren't instantly labeled as BS just because there is money involved. People need to eat, and people who work hard to provide something of value deserve a little extra for their time. |

Well, I came into this a bit backwards. I saw The Secret before I read any of the Hicks' books. But as I read the Hicks' books I realized that what was said in The Secret was pretty much word-for-word what was written in the books dating back to the 80's. I don't know (no-one but those involved would) why the Hicks and Byrnes parted ways, but I really have the distinct impression that the info and quotes in The Secret were in many ways originated from the Abraham teachings. Furthermore, the Hicks' books go into so much more depth and focus on putting LOA to use than The Secret does, I'm glad they have decided to augment people's understanding of the concept. Really, the title is so open to interpretation, I think only those who are looking for it to be a shot at the movie see it that way. I am considering buying it out of sheer curiosity. |
