| Hello all I seem to be having one of those days where I feel so far away from where I want to be

| My favorite coping mechanism is remembering 4 little words "This too shall pass". You can rest assured that it will. You're having "one of those days" because on most other days, you're not. That's proof in itself that you won't feel this way forever, and that you haven't felt this way forever. Also remember how many times you've gone through things, and even though they may have been difficult, you were better after going through them. |

| Hi Showgirl! I'd certainly like to know some coping mechanisms, too. With my goals that don't have pre-set paths, I'm often kind of lost. I usually try to find someone else that's done what I'm trying to do for some rah-rah support. Or I'll read a self-help book for the extra boost that it comes with. However, often, it's like stumbling around, hoping you're going in the right direction, but if you don't know anyone that's done what you're trying to do, a blow can cause some heartache. So yes, I too, would appreciate some coping mechanisms! However, with my goals that have a pre-set path (for instance, I'm working on raising my Math SAT score--no question of what to do: study and practice) it almost becomes an addiction. I'll do poorly and poorly again, but after each time I had this feeling, kind of like the contestants do on "Deal or No Deal" that I should just do it one more time and see what happens... and that's what keeps me going. The curiousity of what would happen if I did it one more time. I now got my first big success for holding in all that time. My 3 cents! |

It's the process that generates growth, development and wisdom. The reaching of the goal is the icing on the cake. So learn to focus on and enjoy the moment. Looking too far ahead paralyzes you and could sabotage your efforts. Hope this helps.
