I was listening to Wayne Dyer and Marrianne Williomson and she said her problem with The Secret is that it focuses people on the material things like homes instead of the bigger issues like world peace and how most people can't even imagine a peaceful world (paraphrased). So, I've been trying to imagine world peace and here's what I've got so far. We're never going to solve world peace until we solve world hunger. I don't know about any of you, but the "abundance mindset" that there is enough for everyone seems to wear thin in the case of mass famine. Does the SR mindset that I need to heal my own belief in lack to quit manifesting famine have any value here? World hunger is a factor of 1) the amount of food available and 2) the amount of people. Great strides have been taken to increase the amount of available food, mostly through genetic engineering. GE grains are resistent to many types of pests and diseases and are more sturdy and temperature-resistent. Also, if we could get weather control, we could probably make a lot more food. But the population is still exploding. Can you imagine a world where the people of this planet decided to voluntarily limit their procreation? Until that happens, won't continuing to add more food supplies just increase the problem? Unless we can get to space, so that we're not stuck on this rock anymore and then humankind can continue to expand. Maybe the population explosion has to happen to propel us to keep exploring. Anyways, maybe I'm just rambling, but I'd love to hear some more ideas on what world peace would look like since we can't create what we can't imagine. |

The problem isn't food or peace, it's human consciousness itself. We already have way more resources than we need, and proven free energy devices, and alternative healing methods that are better than pharmaceutical drugs -- but famine, disease, and war still runs rampant. It's a natural consequence of low levels of consciousness, where the animal-ego inside of us craves to take, steal, hoard, destroy. So until mankind's consciousness raises to a high enough level, these things will continually play out on Earth, if only to clear people's karma. To speed up this process, all we need to do is to continually raise our own LOC which will boost mankind's LOC automatically, due to the non-local field effect of consciousness itself. I don't believe in the whole "LoA/IM explains everything" or Subjective Reality belief system, it's way too limited. |

I believe that peace will come when each of us believes in our hearts that what we do to each other, we do to ourselves. Unconditional love, given freely, and the belief that it is possible are necessary. If each of us can look within and start with ourselves, we can make it happen. And when we doubt, try again. And when we fail, try again. And when someone says it's not possible, or not practical, keep trying anyway. At least that's the answer for me. Thanks for asking the question. It was a good reminder. Love, Joy |

Until we can affect the free will of every individual, IMO, world peace ain't gonna' happen. Also, i don't want to mess around with anyone else's will anyway. The world is violent because people choose violence. No one caused that dude at VTech to commit murder, he chose to do it. He planned it, believed in his cause, acted on it, and "succeeded". Starvation exists in spite of the fact that we throw away enough food every day to feed everyone, instead of feeding everyone. There's plenty of food, it just doesn't reach everyone, because not enough individuals have chosen to see that it does. There are many organizations that try, but not enough of them yet. Also, power hungry and greedy individuals in governments use the food to feed their armies while the masses starve, simply to retain power. This has been going on for ages. somne governments purposely starve those who oppose them as well, simply to eliminate their competition. We have to be very careful about looking at the entire world through American or European eyes, because there's an entirely different world out there with entirely different belief systems, interests and goals. There are people who actaully want another world war, and want it to go nuclear. Thankfully, they aren't the majority, but they do exist. World peace would be great, but until every human chooses it (especially those in governments worldwide), it won't become a reality. It will take a major shift in consciousness for it to occur. That's not impossible, but also not very likely at this particular point int time. |

I am carnivore at the moment like most of people, but i think that we should go to vegetarian/raw food/macrobiotics type of energy intake. Actually what Michio Kushi once said is right. When you look at this video you cant be wrong to take the turn in reasonable time to transfer to mature veggie eating lifestyle: Earthlings - Google Video The biggest problem is that i had born with meat on the table every day and transferring to vegetarian style will be somewhat hard but not impossible! |

I don't know. World peace has always been something I wanted for the world. But I, too, have wondered what that would look like. I feel it could happen, probably not for a while, though. Or maybe I take that back... maybe we could have peace per se, but maybe we could at least get to open communication. Recognizing that also as some people have A and others want A, there will need to be discussion.

The first place we need to work on is our on inner world. The outer world is the result of our inner world. Violence, greed, anger etc originated from an inner mind. You cannot resolve an issue/effect working on the effect itself but to eliminate the cause. Having said that, my idea of working towards world peace would be generating awareness in people about who they truly are and the feeling of oneness. Also, I beleive that though the Secret focuses on material things, that can be the stepping stone for a lot of people to realize their true nature. Last edited by absvan; 04-19-2007 at 09:15 PM. | |
