| When you can have anything you want, how do you know what to pick? I'm in the process of cleaning up a mess made by shifting ideals, by operating out of lack and scarcity instead of abundance. I've had the "I wants" for far too long. As I'm cleaning house, learning more about the LoA, and creating my future by focusing my intent, I'm having a hard time with some of my ideals. I know there's a need there, I'm just not sure how to find the focus. I've opened my eyes, found myself the proverbial kid in a candy store, and not sure what I want other than I like chocolate. Anyone have any insight, or exercises to help gain focus? |

| Just wondering - do you have to pick any one thing? You can have everything ... I did use to have a problem with "conflicting" desires (like the fact that my ideal life would be lived by the ocean/on a mountain/in the heart of a big metropolis). But now I just let myself play with each one whenever the feeling or desire rises in me, and trust that it's all in my vibrational escrow. Was this what you meant? |

Look at what you are already doing--cleaning house, learning more about this, creating your future, focusing your intent.. wow!!! How about constructing an intention which focuses on where you are today while you are doing just these things? I'm thinking something maybe pretty general, describing how you are doing this--maybe its joyfully, compassionately, effectively, passionately (in your words, your thoughts, your feelings..)--Something which focuses on what you are doing now that you expect will have an effect on your life, say years from now, as well as in a progressive way, between then and now.... And then maybe a second one which focuses on some specific thing you are also doing now, this time something you expect you will see some results from soon (like conceptually finding the next step in some part of your process...or, if there is a particular physical thing you are "cleaning up", seeing that you have cleaned up and it is so much better now. Have you seen some of the introductory passages some folks are using? It seems those might be real helpful to the process you are describing... e.g. "In an easy and relaxed manner, In a healthy and positive way, For the highest good of all, In its own perfect time, with its own perfect timing, In good faith and in good humor, (I intend)----then you put your intention in, actively and positively....Some people use "I intend and then work the words as an intention (e.g. "I intend my desk clear, beautiful and organized" or "I intend confident understanding of the next few steps I need to take to start my business" or "I intend a clean, warm and operational kitchen greeting me every day") and some use more an affirmative style ("I have a clear, beautiful and organized desk to work at", "I am confident in my understanding of the next steps...", "My clean, warm and operational kitchen greets me every day") Hope that's somewhat helpful Best of good luck and do keep us posted! Or I guess you could say distinguishing wants from true desires. |

I don't want to say the choices are hard, but they haven't been easy. It's the type of thing where you know you need to do something, but you really don't want to. As soon as you make the decision and take that first step to commit to the decision, you feel the burden lift. Past problems have been the result of a serious case of the "I wants," with the grass always being greener, etc, etc, etc. This was caused by lack of thankfulness, temperance, and diligence. I am now thankful, I'm exercising temperance, and practicing diligence every day. There are many choices I can now make, each pointing me in a different direction. I'm not anxious about anything, because I feel I'm doing what I need to do, but I am still deep in the learning curve. I'm still having trouble deciphering the wants from the true desires. To use the previous example. Let's say I had my house in the mountains, my house by the ocean, my house in the metropolis, and maybe a few others. However, they were attained without harmony. Finding myself nearly bankrupt, I start selling the houses and paying off debt. I start with the houses that I recognize as not being true desires, but acquisitions of lack and scarcity. I sell them, feel the burden gone and am at peace with the decision. Now I'm down to the final few. Do I focus my intention on generating the income to keep them? Do I sell them all but one? If so, which one do I keep? Or do I sell them all and travel for a while? |

| Not to purposely bump my own thread, but I just ran across something pretty interesting. "If one focuses on the 'wanting' of something, the universe will only provide more opportunities for us to continue to want, i.e. not have."I think this is pretty profound. |
| |||
| My perspective is that the Universe doesn't distinguish between "big" and "little". Whether you're putting forth a desire to have chocolate cake for dessert tonight, or you want to add $10K to your income this month, I think it's all the same to the U. The difference is that you see a difference, you think one is harder to get than the other, and that has an effect on how successful you are at manifesting what you want in your life. There's a saying among Abers that you can create a castle as easily as you can a button. But what I'm getting at, in terms of your initial question, is that you might want to try not worrying about separating out your "true desires" from all the various "smaller" things that you want. Because if you can align yourself to whatever it is that you want, whether big or small, whether earth-shattering or small and mundane, you'll create it in your life. And, yes, the word "want" can have a negative connotation. But it doesn't have to - it depends on your emotion when you use the word. |
