| So we're all having around 60,000 thoughts a day, that's about 55 a minute if you exclude 6 hours sleep. That's a lot of thinking, even if it's just half of that, again that's a lot of power being generated. Now thoughts are the instructions (intentions) to build the reality you currently call your life. So how many thoughts are you having that are truly inline with what you really want? It's no help spending 2 x 30 minutes sessions a day focusing on what you want and then spending the rest of the day in thoughts that contradict what you programed in those two sessions. Your thoughts need to be on your goal consistantly, not once a day, not twice a day, but all day, everyday. The winners in this world, the sports/business/successful people all have that all day everyday focus. Do you think Tiger Woods thinks about winning and playing well once a day, twice a day, it's probably all he thinks about. It's his entire life, some would call it an obsession, some would call it passion. If you want massive change, you have to have a massive shift in thoughts and actions. You won't get the actions unless the thoughts are there. You want it? Then start getting passionate about it, start getting focused, stop doubting and take a stand, take those thoughts, every single one of them, all 60,000 of them, and get them in agreement with what you've decided to do with your life. Don't ever let anyone make you think something you know to be wrong. You are not broke, you are not overweight and you are not lonely, you just think you are. Those 60,000 thoughts are your everyday reality, they are the connection between your true self and your physical reality. They are your foot soliders, your loyal and unbiased friends, they will either serve you or serve others. You choose. HTH Jeff |

| Well said. What strikes me about that number 60,000 is that it is finite. I can only think so many thoughts in a day. Which means there is an exact number of thoughts I am going to have while I am in this body. Sort of makes each thought more precious when I think I have a limited supply of them. More incentive to use each one wisely.

| Good comment about self awareness. That is what it's really about. Knowing who you are and why you choose it. Awareness isn't ego, awareness is true self, consciousness, what you really are. The physicality of reality is very convincing, just take a look in the mirror, but ultimately not what you truly are. Awareness is the container for everything and becoming self aware is when you know that your thoughts aren't coming from your mind of body, they come from your consciousness and that is true self. True self/consciousness manifests everything including your thoughts. You are quiet a powerful little manifesting machine, you're manifesting thousands of thoughts all day long and (if you so believe) building and maintaining reality while thinking. No wonder you a sleep everyday HTH Jeff |

| It definitely is very much about self-awareness. Here's a quick way of jumpstarting your self-awareness (although it's not going to catch all 60K thoughts Try forming an intention to notice and keep track of when you're thinking a thought that's negative, or contains negative words and phrases (like "no", or "shouldn't"). Define a period during which you will do this - it could be an hour, or an entire day. Do this without judging yourself. You're merely an observer. At the end of your set time period, you'll see how frequently your thoughts go upstream. And the really nice thing about doing this is that, in setting and carrying through that intention, you'll actually find that you've sharpened your awareness of how often you use these negative words and phrases in your thoughts. I actually posted about this the other day here. Belle

| Very good! When I started changing my way of thinking, I started small, by working to focus my thoughts for 1 minute every hour, then built upon that. I have unconsciously programmed myself now the recognize when I am having a "bad" thought. Just today a guy was going at least 45 into the beach parking lot and all I could think about was "You moron!" But I caught myself before it got farther and reminded myself I only focus on happy things that please me. People going 45 MPH into a parking lot does not please me, so I will not focus on it.

| Well, yes and no. It involves a lot of self-awareness when you are deliberately attempting to eliminate an existing pattern of negative thinking; or acquire a new pattern of positive thinking. It does not require any self-awareness once the thought pattern you desire to establish, has been established. Then it's mostly on autopilot. It becomes habitual, instinctive, automatic. If you recall how it was like when you first learned to drive, you know what I mean. You have to keep giving yourself mental instructions as to when and how to change gears, check rear view mirror, step on accelerator, step on brake etc. But once you've learned, it becomes automatic. People don't realise it, but this goes beyond motor skills like driving. Each of us also has "autopilot" thoughts on just about anything - including sex, money, relationships, government, work, family etc. Since thoughts affect reality, your "autopilot" thoughts create your reality. That's why you have to scrutinise your thoughts, identify the ones that you don't want to have anymore, and root them out. That's where you need the self-awareness. |

| Thanks Acting Like Godot, that helps to clarify things for me. You're right about the autopilot, I have felt that I'm like a robot just reacting to whatever happens. What has been working for me is focusing on my passions fully. Seems to turn my mind off, and when I do think about other stuff afterwards, my thoughts tend to be more clear. For instance last night, I wasn't thinking anything before I went to bed (after a long session of writing music). One of the few times I could remember when I just "was". |
