Ellie, do you mean like putting a deadline on the intention? I guess if this is what you mean then the answer is 'no' in my opinion. I have rarely heard anyone say that this is how it's done. However, if it's long term like intending to be a millionaire in 10 years or finding the right partner within a year, I would say this is fine. Wanting £5000 in a week or the perfect house in 5 days will probably not manifest. However, and this is important, it's not clear to me whether this is because you just can't have deadlines or it's because it makes it harder for you to believe it will manifest and therefore it doesn't show up. The key is that you believe 100% that it's on its way. What you should do is to state the intention aloud and see if it is believable to you. If, for example, you say I will have xxxx in my life by xx.xx.xxxx and you feel deep down it can't happen then abandon this approach - you can always try it again later when you become an expert at manifesting |

I dont think putting a deadline to your intentions is a good idea. Just have affirmations in the present tense, as you already have it, and be grateful for it, because you know (or at least should believe |

Oh - I was just about to start a new thread on precisely this topic! This is long - but it might be of interest to those who think that IM doesn't work. My intentions have been showing up - but there sure is a delay on them. In August 2004 I was made redundant from my job. I wrote down what I thought was my dream job. It would be half organising training admin and half delivering training courses and I would have the space to grow and develop as I wanted. I got a job (first 6 month admin, then a move to training) straight away - but I hated it. I didn't understand the product I was training on and the team I joined were horrible. From moving into the training side of the role, every day on the way to work I wished I could be made redundant so I could leave without admitting failure. Within 3 months of wishing for redundancy every day, I had my redundancy cheque! I started work on a contract at a charity and 3 weeks before my contract was up for renewal I got a call offering me a job - half admin / half training with the space to develop as I saw fit exactly as I had intented over a year and half before. I started in April 2006 - 20 months after I first intended that role. The only problem was with the location as it was a long drive from home. The thing is I hadn't given that intention any attention after the inital months after I wrote it down. When I left the charity I remember thinking that I wanted the charity's training manager's job as the charity was so much more convenient to travel to. I remember writing that intention down and focusing on it intently at first, but then stopped for reasons I will go into later. 4 days ago (a year after leaving my role at the charity) I was late arriving at a conference. I plonked myself down in the only available seat, right next to the charity's training manager, who told me she leaves in the middle of May and did I want to apply for her job! The daft thing is - after speaking to her, I realised I didn't want her job at all. The reason I had spent ages visualising getting it previously was that I thought her job would enable me to focus on my coaching and healing business as it was closer to home while still earning enough money to pay the mortgage. A few months ago I realised that I was trying to control the 'how' of my intentions manifested and I started asking instead for what I wanted for my business. So what I am trying to say is that it is only by looking back at the pattern over the last couple of years that I can see how I have manifested exactly what I asked for, even though there was a delay of between 3 and 20 months so at the time it didn't feel that anything was happening at all. So my next move is to really work out what it is I am trying to manifest as I think that is some of the problem, I keep changing my mind!

By tacking a deadline on your intention, you are tacking a "how" onto your intention. That is also putting your intention in the future, and if you keep saying "I want this by this date" it is telling yourself that you don't have it yet, which means you'll never have it. Just let go and believe you already have it. It will come at the right time. |

Hm, I do not know, I do not put time restraints on the Universe. Everytime you make a wish, your desire is manifested immediately on another plane of existance. Think of it as an elevator. You are now on the ground floor, but your desire is on floor five. You need to align your vibrations with your desire to get up to the 5th floor. So the quicker you can do that, the quicker you'll get what you desire.

I think if you could get to the place where you can always align yourself to your desire the moment you have that desire, you probably could set a time limit on your intentions, or have "instant" manifestations. But this is very hard to do, and I imagine few people actually get there. I have a friend who has very very quick manifestations - she is very aligned with her inner self and when you're with her, you can definitely feel it. But even she experiences a delay between the launching of her desire and the manifesting of it. Belle

Certain things that I manifest frequently usually happen immediately or when I expect them to. Getting green lights when driving, or getting close parking spaces. The elevator at work is either waiting for me or on it's way. Other things take a day or so, my house and car took at least a year. |

I think most people's hang-ups is size. We think parking space is small and a house is big. So we expect the parking space asap, and expect the house will take awhile. Both take the same amount of time. As Yoda says - Size Matters NOT.

When I try to manifest me finding a $20 I have only found a penny or two. That's ok because I know that twenty is waiting for me somewhere. | |
