| A Belief is a certainty, a knowing of something to be true. If you have a belief the sky is blue, it’s blue. If you have a belief you’re poor, then you’re poor. We’ve told from a PD perspective that changing our beliefs and our reality will change and we’re told that thoughts change beliefs. The problem with thoughts is they aren’t beliefs and all the thoughts in the world can’t change a core or fundamental belief. So what is a belief? A belief is a choice or decision you’ve made about something and that’s we’re the true power is, not in thoughts. Thoughts will help you see where your focus is and what your beliefs are, but that is their limitation. I think we can fast track goal achievement or intention manifestation if we change our beliefs and that means making new choices or new decisions about something. Too often we are trying to think differently about something and we think that will change the belief, but it doesn’t. Thoughts are actually a manifestation themselves and you can’t use a manifestation to manifest anything. Intention takes a long time if at all to manifest, when there is a major core belief in the way. Thoughts and emotions will follow beliefs not the other way around. Have you ever intended something and it did manifest quickly? That’s because the belief attached to it is supportive and doesn’t conflict. If you’re intending something and it’s not happening, you can fast track it by examining the beliefs associated with it. Your beliefs rule your world, thoughts are helpful, but only to check and support your beliefs. I could be wrong, but I don’t believe so HTH Jeff |

| That's weird, I just wrote an article on beliefs a few days ago. Maybe this will help: » Self Help 101: Beliefs and Belief Systems > Self Help Wisdom to Inspire, Empower and Enlighten You

| Hi Judge45, good post; it is better to work on the root cause of our thoughts rather than trying to control the thousands of thoughts we have each day. Hi Paul, that's a well-written article, you covered a lot in a very succint manner. I found it very helpful, and will be sending the link to my friends. may be few people explore their beliefs because they don't see the link between their thoughts and their beliefs? e.g. many people i know think that their thoughts are reactions to external stimuli, so when things don't go well they automatically blame external conditions. They already believe that they don't have control over their thoughts, therefore, they are less likely to examine their belief system. I believe that anything is possible, but i find that to be a double-edged sword. I.e. i can achieve anything, but at the same time, some bizarre catastrophe can just happen. So i'm beginning to think this a limiting belief... |
