Default Book recommendation

I have been meaning to post this for some time. This summer I was given a book by a close friend that was highly recommended. This friend does not know that I am interested in IM or anything.

The book is called "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein

The book has little hints and words of wisdom dealing with IM throughout but it was a nice surprise because I wasn't expecting it. Its an easy, relaxing read and the whole story is told from a dogs point of view. If you need a break from your heavy reading I highly recommend it.

Enjoy

Well actually I finished it today. It took me about 3 hours to read altogether.

A lovely little book, particularly poignant as I sat with a dog while it died a month back and a lot of the symptoms that dog had were the same as the dog in the book. I had to dab the eyes once or twice

I liked the analogies and metaphors with racing driving, focus, etc etc, 'holding the line' for want of a better phrase on what you want. I don't want to give the story away too much, but I literally gasped when the depths the Twins would sink to became apparent.

The end bit just before the Epilogue also rang home apropos a discussion I was having with someone yesterday about 'learning'.

PS the author has a website: The Art of Racing in the Rain

PPS In some ways I was reminded of a short story I once read about 'Sputnik the Super Kitten' in a sci-fi collection. Must google!

After much effort and signing up to a Sci-Fi forum, the story I'm thinking of is "Space-Time for Springers" by Fritz Leiber read it here, it's very short
