Cool The Power by Rhonda Bryne (The Secret Part II)

I stumbled upon the latest book by the creator of The Secret yesterday.

The reviews on Amazon.com range from love to intense hate. Some people love it, others are calling it a scam.

According to one positive Amazon review, here's what the book is about.

Quote:
In "The Power," Rhonda takes the law of attraction in another direction and teaches the power of using your emotions to FEEL what you want to have so that what you desire will come quicker. It is a way of engaging the mind and heart and getting them to work together.
And here's a part of a negative review:

Quote:

This book proclaiming to be about love and good feelings presents one of the most vacant views of life that I have encountered. It begins with Byrne's opening remarks: "Life is simple. Your life is made up of only two kinds of things, positive things and negative things." Well, no. It's not. Not my life. My life is made up of many things, most of which are not reducible to a positive/negative dichotomy. To reduce all things and experiences to one of two polarized categories is to rob the world and life of their grandeur, their beauty, their complexity, and yes, their difficulties and their heartbreak, too.

And there is nothing in Byrne's universe that escapes being reduced in this way. Take relationships. Byrne encourages us to think of people as our personal Emotional Trainers, monitoring them on the positive-negative scale to be utilized as teachers in building our own personal universes, or to be avoided, accordingly. But what kind of friends, partners and parents would that make us?
So I went onto YouTube and watched a couple of personal reviews.

You can watch them yourself:

I was looking for version of the book for my Amazon Kindle, but it's not available yet as a download.

I don't disagree with the notion that feelings are partly responsible for what we manifest. And it seems the book hints at the subject of polarity in simple terms.

I'll hit the old fashioned bookstore this week and check out a copy.

Have you read it yet? If so, what do you think?

Based on those reviews, it sounds like Abraham-Hicks' words repackaged. And we can listen to A-H for free on YouTube

Default This book manifested in my mailbox

I mentioned on another thread that a brand new copy of this book actually manifested in my mailbox 2 days ago. One of my roommates found it there, wasn't interested in it and gave it to me. Yesterday, as I was leafing through it, I saw there was actually an inscription inside addressed to my other roommate.

When I saw her today I told her someone left a book in the mailbox for her. She gave it a cursory once-over and said something like "Weird. I'm not into this crap at all. I wonder why someone would leave this for me? Do you want it?" lol

So I somehow managed to manifest for myself a book about manifesting, without even realizing I was doing so. I hadn't even heard of it or known that it existed until I was holding it in my hand. Am going to try and start it tonight if I have time.

I go to the bookstore quite often and I noticed when it came out. I was reading it every time I went in the store. It was a wonderful read. I would read 10-20 pages and leave the store with my head buzzing, feeling exalted.

There's passengers for every train. I loved it even though nothing in the book was new to me, the book itself is a simple read.

If you do get a chance to check it out and like the way it's written, try out Osho's books

Default Cool

Interchangeable,

So glad you manifested a free copy of the book. Everything comes into our lives at the perfect time. Enjoy it

Bliss Sage,

Yes it does sound a little Abraham-Hicks, but in the self-help industry, heck ANY industry, info is recycled, rehashed, and re-packaged on a daily basis. For some people Rhonda Bryne's products might be easier to digest than the Hicks'. I personally like Hicks' info better. But for some folks, the Hicks' are too woo-woo and "out there" with all the channeling.

Rhonda likes to make everything shiny and exciting. I have no problem with that. Some people like all that jazz. To each his own. As long as there is some substance and I can learn one thing that will improve my life, I'll read it.

Maxkhristov,

I have a couple of Osho books in my Amazon wishlist. I actually ran across a used copy of Intuition, but didn't buy it because I saw another book I wanted more.

The other book was called Mindfullness. It was written by an academic psychologist and but I couldn't get into it, so I gave it away. I ended up buying Wayne Dyer's Excuses Be Gone for my Kindle the next day. I love it and I'm reading again for the 2nd time.

Thanks for the input guys!

This is definitely negative.

I heard about it and expected it would generate exactly what it has, intense love from some and intense hate from others. But here is the thing, whenever you take a stand about something, anything (especially less conventional stuff) there will always be people that will be intensely offended. The alternative is to go through life in a neutral path. And I think many people do exactly that. And then they wonder why they are on anti-depressants.

Yes, it is!

I'm into the weird crap, but I don't resonate with Rhonda Byrne's approach.

What really perked up my interest was the concept of thinking thoughts that feel good when you think them.

Default I agree with Angela

Angela,

You're right. Your thoughts coupled with your feelings makes all the difference in the world.

By most people's standards, last week was a pretty rough week for me. BUT instead of me wallowing in misery and complaining, I took my attention off my problems and started focusing more on helping others.

So I reached out to students needing help with college chemistry, since I love to teach. I targeted folks who have negative beliefs about their abilities to learn science and math. Now I'm finding ways to help them develop positive mindsets and pass their classes with greater ease. It's been rewarding

Have all of my personal problems been solved overnight? No. But and this is a BIG but, I'm turning things around in the present moment by being grateful for the problem. I'm not pissed off or upset. I'm quite happy

Opportunities come disguised as uncomfortable problems.
