Talking Cool synchronisities that lead to me getting the PDSP book

Something unsettling *just happened* to take place yesterday, which my parents *just happened* to deal with by taking me out to discuss it over dinner, when my brother *just happened* to suggest we follow it up by going to the bookstore, and my parents *just happened* to agree (something they wouldn't normally do), and I *just happened* to see that the bookstore had a Personal Growth section (something I'd never seen at that chain before), and it *just happened* to have exactly one copy of Personal Development for Smart People lodged between 400 diet books and "Why Men Marry Bitches" (and a bunch of useless looking books like that), and my brother just happened to have 20$ on hand to loan me (cause I had left my money at home).

And now I have the book.
(And a crazy run-on sentence)

Anyways, what was the intention? For the universe to give me a sign that my personal growth would start manifesting in physical reality. And now I have a physical object (and one I wanted at that) that not only relates to my virtual life incredibly well, but has "Personal Development" written in big letters on the cover.

Not really on-topic, but an obscure IM/LoA-ish book called "Pro Evo" plopped itself into the lap of the biggest symbol of scientistic skepticism in my life, my father. Even weirder, he's reacting FAVORABLY to it!

Awesome! Funnily enough, my dad reacted favorably to my choice of book, he liked what he read on the back cover and asked to read it after me. Way outa left field!

You'd be surprised how easily your biggest adversary can fall to being exposed to higher levels of consciousness. A little taste, here and there, is perfect. His ego is too large to accept the idea of you being on a higher level than him. But he'd be perfectly willing to accept other people's evidence.

I didn't hit upon this trick with my father until he brought home a copy of What the BLEEP do we know? that someone in his AA group lent him. All of a sudden, my father, his pride the size of Africa, was greedily gobbling up pop-culture new-age spirituality. It didn't stick, but it sure made my life easier for awhile. Nowadays I bring home some artifact of higher spirit/consciousness every once in awhile to beguile him.

I bet this strategy would work wonders for you!

The bolded sentence made me lmAo.

He's kinda interesting, he wants Christianity to be 100% right (see my post and cylon's posts on the "Is Jesus Who Christians Say He Is?" thread for a glimpse into the psyche of those raised Christian), and at the same time want to be kind of accepting of wisdom from whatever source, and yet...he's still a Republican. Oh, the power of being raised a way that reinforces itself....

It's a very prideful mindset. Pride as in this post:

Levels of Consciousness

Until you yourself reach Reason, you're not going to be able to reach him directly. You're best off using his predictability against him. You're a level above him at Courage, and you need to work that level before you move up, or you'll find yourself really butting heads with him. If, for example, you move up to Neutrality, he won't be able to see you or understand at all any more, and his Pride will only tug at you harder. Neutrality to him will look like Apathy. I was at Neutrality when I met my father for the first time in my adult life. It wasn't pretty. It wasn't until I moved up to Willingness that my father and I really started to get along.

You work the Courage level by putting out insane amounts of energy in your quest to better your life. You send out the applications, you brave the rejection. You keep trying over your family's objections. You'll know you moved up when you don't have to work so hard just to stay still.

You can believe in that label system, but it's something I don't subscribe to. It is a source of comparison and is extremely linear and untrue of people go through. Being 'reasonable', as you said, won't be able to convince a stubborn person who won't listen to you and avoid you all the time.

EVERYONE is reasonable! They use intuition, beliefs, and their mind to guide them to do something they find reasonable. Reason is such a subjective quality!

*cough*

Anyways, hope this manifestation of a Personal Development book certainly helps you, secrets!

Love and huggles,
Andrew.

Love and huggles,
Andrew.
The real value of the system is when you apply it to yourself. It shows you the path you should be travelling right now and where people get tripped up. I visualize it as a mountain we all have to climb. I can understand being wary of the comparison aspects of the paradigm, but that doesn't in any way discredit the system. And we should all use the tools and techniques we have available.

Thank you for posting at 1:55 EST!

Signs promoting a $5.55 pizza deal popped up on our street corner, the only ones in evidence along the entire main street passing the house, and the only time I can recall any "price tag" advertising ever being placed there (advertising of any kind is vanishingly rare to begin with)

Dear Ms. Stollen ...

Check out the avatar of Firefly55555 - I like to parody the avatars of new pals, and hers is just flat out irresistible!

Just be thankful I didn't have Waxy examining a door, or taking crooked pictures in his mirror

A bit of trivia - that is my actual hand in that pic; it was easier to photograph, clip and colorize it than to draw one!
