Default Thoughts on Perspective and Reality

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about perspectives and how they change your reality. When you think of it this way, it's easy to see your reality being molded.

A few months ago, I realized that the answer to all of our personal problems lies within ourselves. I know many people have said that before, but it's one of those things you have to find out on your own before it completely makes sense. These forums are a great example. Whenever people post questions, it's not the answers themselves that solve problems. It's a take on the problem from a different perspective, which allows the person with the problem to alter their own perspective. This solves the problem. As soon as you realize this, you'll find out you can solve your own problems, and that you rarely need others advice. It's very empowering to realize this, because your life instantly becomes simplified.

Perspective is a great way to answer your own questions, but it's also a powerful tool in changing your reality. Simply adopting a new perspective molds your reality into what your new perspective perceives it to be. This might sound confusing, but I'll use some examples.

There are billions of different perspectives, but here's one everyone's familier with.

The Nine-to-Five Perspective

This is the perspective many of us were brought up with. In this perspective, you map out your life following what others in your perspective have also done. This is the idea that while some people get "lucky," and achieve their goals and become billionaires, it won't happen to you. Something that you can accomplish, though, is getting a degree, and finding a nice stable job.

People who hold onto this perspective will have a reality that is perfectly molded for it. They will see how other people have become famous, or incredibly rich, and not even give it a second thought. They will never believe that they could be like those people, because those people got lucky. Because of this perspective, these people alienate themselves from those who strive to become wealthy or famous through another route. If someone in a nine-to-five perspective knows someone who is pursuing a different path, they are unable to comprehend what that person is thinking. Often, they'll have thoughts like "That kid's crazy," or "Why would you ever take that big of a risk when it could lead to nothing?"

This is just one example of a common perspective. One thing all perspectives share in common is that once you choose one, you alienate yourself from people in a different perspective. Someone who chooses to pursue a life of fame will have a difficult time understanding why someone would ever want to go to school and get a job when they don't have to.

I hope this all makes sense. The basic idea is that your perspective controls your reality. Instead of trying to use the LoA or other tool to change things in your reality directly, simply change your perspective, and your reality will match it. Once you completely grasp this, you gain a huge amount of flexibility in your life. You can change perspective whenever you want, and your reality will follow.

I agree. Seems like the more you look within, your entire reality "out there" changes. It's a good feeling.

But I regard changing perspective as one LOA method.

Yeah, I just don't like saying LOA because of how many people view the idea of the "Law of Attraction."

Thanks Mike,

Great reminder, hard to practice at a constant level, but huge potential if it can become a mantra day to day and minute to minute.

Cheers
