I've just read the book "What to Say When You Talk to Yourself" by Shad Helmstetter, and have been inspired to write up a few self-talk scripts (a set of affirmations) on a few topics, and am playing them on my mp3 player. I like this idea, as I can listen while doing other things. I have found self-hypnosis cds and paraliminals to have some success, but it's such a mission to set aside half an hour a day to lie and listen. With this, I can listen while shopping, while on my way to work, while writing a post on pavlina forums, etc I'm curious to hear others' experiences with recorded affirmations. Are you using them, how long have you been using them, how often do you listen, and what results, if any, have you had? Cheers! |

I recently bought Teri Mahaney's "Super Sleep". She has experimented extensively with using scripts while you sleep (which is excellent as you don't have to make time for it during the day). Teri Mahaney also sells her own CDs but I prefer using or adapting the scripts from her book. I'm still in the process of recording the scripts on top of musi. You're supposed to listen to them for 30 days in a row so I will have to post about the results later on. |

Wonderfull thread! It deserves much more attention. I was introduced to a self talk by Shad Helmstetter. I have tried it right away and got some amazing results. At that time I had some serious health problems which also affected my self esteem. I was so depressed that I totally sabotaged my social life. I didn't go out, didn't hang out with my friends, wouldn't talk to girls, etc. I thought that nothing can cure this... Nothing! Then I tried self talk mp3 and in two months my health got much better. I got full of energy, full of self esteem. I got back to my normal life. After that I said to myself: If self talk could cure that it could do anything! So right now I am doing some experiments with it and I am still getting amazing results. I will publish them shortly. I would like to share this technique with everyone so I am offering myself to record a mp3 self talk for you. I have some experiences with writing self talk scripts and recording them. Contact me and I will make you a mp3 self talk for whatever topic/problem you need. |

Funny you mention this because I read somewhere on the forum about NAPs (Night audio programs) and just made my own taped affirmations today!! I plan on playing it all night while I’m sleeping. I did something similar quite a few years ago but I would also listen to them when I went for a walk or was doing some kind of exercise. I’m actually not sure why I stopped doing it because it worked wonders, it completely changed some limiting beliefs I had about myself…I’m really looking forward to starting this again |

Anyway. I am not sure about the playing it all night while sleeping. I did not get any results with that. And it disturbed my sleep. For me it works better while I am awake. How do you play the record while asleep?

| Hi Alen I recorded mine and converted it to an mp3 that way you can just put it on 'loop' using an mp3 player and listen to it as you fall asleep and while you're asleep. I havent done this yet, I'm going to try it tonight. I found the thread where I viewed info about NAP, its a post by Sbonn and there's is a link to an ebook with loads of info How do YOU let go of limiting beliefs? I hope the link works I havent tried to add one before |

Hey guys, I've been listening to naps for a couple months now (mainly when I sleep, clean house, cook dinner, watch tv, go on-line - mainly anything that does not require intense concentration) and I have found a lot of my programming is changing. For instance, I play the lottery every week and b4 doing naps I would check my numbers and get discouraged if I either did not match any numbers or if I would match only 1 number and I would start focusing more on that losing energy than on the winning energy. Since doing these naps I now find myself (and this just started happening in the past month or so) when I check my ticket - I am not feeling ANY negative energy even (and this is VERY surprising) if I get no numbers. This is a HUGE shift for me because now when I check my numbers and get nothing -I still find myself believing that I know this is going to happen and I have totally switched to winning energy all the time and I am no longer having this up and down contradiction in my vibration (losing energy/thoughts and then winning energy/thoughts) anymore. So I see significant changes in my belief system. I do agree with the it can interupt your sleep and what I have done is gotten a subliminal where on track 4 there is a silent subliminal and I have that on my ipod along with other spoken affirmations and I find that the silent part helps me to fall asleep more easily than trying to listen to the ocean sounds. Also I use these sleep phones cuz those ipod ear phones do not stay in and these sleep phones are massively comfortable and the lead is very long. I don't know about all of you but a lot of time I would wake up and find that somehow I must have turned off my ipod either by rolling onto it or just somehow shutting it off. With the extra long lead on the sleep phones I can literally throw my ipod to the other side of the bed and never shut it off by accident. Sleep Headphones | Best New Sleep Aid | Comfortable Headphones | SleepPhones btw: When you order these get the smaller size (unless you have a really big head) because they will stretch over time and you don't want them rolling around on your head. To be honest I really wish that they would have speakers encircling the entire sleep phone and not just these square speakers and that way if it does roll around you will still have a speaker next to your ears. Hi Guys, I am gonna make it easier for people to find info on NAPs and repost the info here about NAPs Quote:
The issue with Super Sleep is the recorded scripts can be an hour long. With NAPs you are writing a 10 line new story basically when recorded comes out to about a minute to a minute and a half. The objective is to get as many repeats in that you can each night.. The more repetition the faster things take hold. Also I do suggest reading Terry's site, I linked it above she gives some really interesting information about how subliminal work and also information regarding studies performed. BIG HUGS, Sbonn

Hi happyIam, You are welcome! Yaa, those ipod ear phones are so annoying even when you are not sleeping cuz they keep falling out. I keep thinking they need to develop earphones that are cone shaped and soft and you can just put them in your ears like those foam earplugs - that way they would stay put. They also need to go back to the drawing board on the ipod. Who came up with such a tiny design lol! I mean half the time when I try to fast forward it I accidentally turn it off and it's so annoying cuz the way it is designed the buttons are so close to the main off switch - oh and don't even get me started on the main on/off/shuffle button. It is way too tiny! I can tell you the sleep phones are very soft and comfortable and great if you are a side sleeper (which I am) so I am sure you will find them amazing. The great thing about the silent track is not only can you fall asleep with it but if you wake up you can fast forward your ipod back to the silent track and have either a 10 min or 20 min lead. For me the silent track is 10 min and sometimes it takes me longer than 10 min to fall asleep so I am playing around with the idea of recording 2 silent tracks back to back. What I still can't wrap my mind around is HOW the subconscious mind can hear silent affirm - even if they are in the background just how loud do you turn up silence? Wow can't believe this thread is still going.... i think what helped me best was recording my affirmations and adding them to the schumann resonance track. I also did an echo effect on my affirmations. The schumann resonance puts your mind into theta state. I manifested an interview that way. I haven't done that in such a long time. I think i'm going to try that again.
