Hi. Today I thought about something interesting. I'm working as an enterpreneur and sometimes I remember a close "friend" with whom I had ties in the past that kept telling me it's a bad job, most likely because he failed. But then I remember my other friends that work at the company in different countries, remembering the positive things they told me and I have this whole different fulfilling feeling. Michael Beckwith says in the secret that positive thought is more powerful than a negative thought. So can we basically negate negative thoughts by thinking positive thoughts in response, giving even more power to the positive side in the process? |

Positive thoughts are a lot better ones to harbor. You know, a lot of people tend to dismiss positive thinking nowadays, but I still secretly believe it's very good and I love thinking positively! Of course negative emotions and thoughts is not something that ever goes away, but I'm ok with having them too, they are essential for growth.

I don't really agree that a positive thought outweighs a negative one. For instance, if a person thinks, "Wow, I don't have enough money!," thinking the thought, "Wow, I really do have an abundance of money!" doesn't tend to obliterate the first thought. A thought isn't necessarily a belief or a way of being, either of which, I think, actually IS more powerful than a negative thought. Lots of people think thoughts they don't believe, or that don't inspire an effective way of being -- and then they wonder, "how come the law of attraction isn't working?!?" It's a good start, though! |

To imply a that a thought is "negative or positive" actually seems to me like it gives it a lot more power than is necessary. I'm trying on an "effective/ineffective" view lately. And I think that works better for me than deciding to judge my thoughts in terms of "positive" or "negative" or good or bad. To me, it seems, there are thoughts that are effective (move me towards what I want) or ineffective (move me away from what I want or block me from what I want).

""Wow, I don't have enough money!" is an extremely positive thought, compared to something like "I'm broke, and useless, and stupid, and I'm going to kill myself now."

but I think that there is kind of a habit of associating positive with good/right and negative with bad/wrong, and I agree with you that it can work well to examine that and deliberately try on something else.

my hubby reverts to negative cynicism and I am the opposite, and I often say to him, that's fine you go ahead an dbe cynical bec uase my positive thoughts are more powerful than your negative ones. I put mor effort into them ,whereas his are just lazy thinking what im finding is that the intentions i have a remanifesting for both of us...and he is slowly showing signs of LOA, eg yesterday i said 'we'll be debt free in 2 years' and instead of saying 'rubbish" he said "That's amazing" in disbelief but at least he agreed! |
