Hello all, sending positive vibes and love to all of you. I am in a really good place today and even though bad things have happened today to do with money (as per) I have not let it affect me emotionally. Tonight I am going to an Eckhart Tolle - Power of now discussion group at a venue that happens to be on the new street that I now live on (only moved in a month ago). The session consists of meditation to start - we watch a dvd or listen to a cd of Eckhart Tolle, have a group discussion then end with a longer meditation. I am so looking forward to this and if I enjoy it will attend regularly, they have sessions every Monday. I will drop by the forum this evening or tomorrow and let you know how I get on. Does anyone else attend discussion groups like this in their neighbourhood? |

Hello Firstly, apologies if I have posted this on the wrong thread. Review of last night's group......... The woman who runs the group is a healer and has been following Eckhart Tolle's work for quite sometime and been on 2 of his retreats. Such a lovely woman and put us at ease the moment we walked in the door. There was only 4 of us at last night's group, she says this differs each week and sometimes there can be more than a dozen people. We started off with a short meditation and then straight into a video (she picks one at random each week). I have only read 'The Power of Now' and never seen any of his talks so was suprised to see what a warm and funny character he was. Watching the talk for about 45mins there were so many moments where I was in the now and felt amazing. There were so many points he made that made me laugh and realise how funny are thoughts can be. We ended with a 25min meditation which was the longest I have ever done without it being a guided meditation. Afterwards I felt so peaceful and relaxed it was fantastic. The 5 of us all talked for about 15 minutes about Tolle and other influential authors/speakers and then my friend and I went to mine and talked for over an hour on the subject and similar ones. An amazing night and I slept beautifully afterwards which was great as for the past week or so I haven't been sleeping well. We are going to visit again in a few weeks. Federer - are there no groups in your area? We just found out about this one when we attended a fair. I love coming on this forum but nothing beats speaking to someone face to face as you feel their energy with yours and the more you get into it the better it feels. Hope you can find somewhere but this forum is good so at least you have that. Sending positive energy to everyone! |

i have a question about staying in the "Now". I have read the book and others/other authors that talk about being present so i am not completely new to this but am still learning. question - is "now" only the things that are presently in front of us? clarification - i am going to the store, on my way various things happen, i then shop and make decisions, maybe stop to read at a coffee shop...etc. however, i am a married man with 5 children and a job and growing/changing spiritual beliefs. so, as i go about my business there are in fact things occuring with my family in the "now" but, is that only their now and not mine? do i disregard any and all of my other life situations that are currently happening because in my exact "Now" its just me, my driving, my shopping, my reading? kruger |

Whatever your family are doing they will be doing it regardless of where you have your attention or awareness focussed. When you are with them then sure, be in the "Now" and enjoy your time. Worrying about what others are doing, where they are, will they be ok etc is a waste of your energy as you cannot control their situation. You'll be inventing situations in your mind, imagining what is happening but the truth is that there is nothing happening outside of your own awareness, hence being fully present in your own "Now". And no, I don't think that, that's particularly selfish behaviour whilst on the surface it may seem so. | |
