Me and Manifestation

Hi All,

I just wanted to get my thoughts out on manifestation, so sorry if I'm selfishly using this space to process things First, let me say I'm lukewarm about the idea of manifestation. Now, things obviously manifest for people. A couple can plan a wedding, invest money and time, and eventually there will be a wedding. That's manifestation to me. Nothing mystical beyond human thought and action. Past that, things get foggy. I do see a lot of merit in the idea of multiple universes, but I haven't cracked the code on getting "my" consciousness to move into the ideal universe of my choosing. I did have the experience of writing down an "ideal" job, one that I thought I couldn't obtain, and forgetting all about writing down the intention, only to eventually get that job years later and then come across what I had written. My current model for all of this is that the universe holds many possibilities, and that my actions can open up many more options than my fears and insecurities may allow for. But I still don't think I could manifest something beyond what my actions or the actions of others outside of my locus of control would account for. Reading here, though, I see people obviously take the universe to be much more illusory than that. At one time, I think I wanted it to be that illusory, so that I could just overcome my real world problems with a snap of my fingers. I feel my life suffered as a result.

So, that's where I'm at. I feel burned by what I consider now to be pie-in-the-sky thinking, but there still seems to be a lot more there in what we can create for ourselves and others. The marketing of things like the LoA is a real hurdle for me, as the need for marketing negates the underlying message in my eyes. But in my life and the lives of others, I've seen people achieve their goals, and I want to be better at that. I don't want my personal skepticism to get in the way of my happiness if there's something real out there.
