Imagine you really could have ANYTHING you wanted!

What would you create?

• I'd create a way to go back in time to different periods in my life and relive an alternative future (but able to snap back to "reality" in this timeline at any moment I chose). I'd be able to program myself to remember as much or as little from my present awareness as I wanted to (for example I could go back to when I was fifteen with certain awareness I have now and of future events or with only a little bit, perhaps a few phrases of wisdom).
• The ability to fly would be pretty cool.
• Being able to freeze time would be neat too or to speed it up, slow it down.
• Being able to talk to my friend (he's dead) and chill with anyone who's been dead for years.

I could think of a bunch more probably. I spend alot of time daydreaming about stuff like this and sometimes dream about it.

When I was 18, I attempted suicide, it goes without saying I was completely disillusioned with life. My fantasy version of the afterlife (as I lay in bed after taking 330 pills) was the first bullet point one (being able to revisit the past and keep changing things until they were perfect, kind of like in a computer game where you can "save" your game and go back to it in case you screw up in a way that cannot be reversed and need to revert to your last save). Fortunately I didn't die. Made me curious about what would have happened if I did though. I still am but I don't plan to find out for a long time now. Real life is still somewhat interesting to me. I still wish I could change a few things about the rules of this little sim game we're living in though.

Here's some more :

• Be able to switch bodies with my girlfriend so I could know what it's like to be her (and to have sex as a woman).
• Switch bodies with other people as well and with animals (be interesting to see the world thru a cat's eyes, think as a cat thinks, feel as a cat feels, etc.)
• Being able to read minds (at will, I would usually keep the ability turned off) would be cool too.

I'm getting the distinct feeling lately that I can walk through walls and I actually am starting to believe I could pull it off.

But there's this niggling little thing in the back of my mind that says "Don't do it, because once you go down that road, you can't come back"

I mean if I could really do that, then everything goes out the window. I'd be able to do everything and I think that's not really the point of a physical reality.

If I really could do anything, I wouldn't play with the past, I would fly though, that would be cool and of course $5 million dollars in the bank would be a must

Your point about money is true, but that's my point. Once you can do anything, physical reality becomes pointless.

I think what you mean is if you could just have one or two cool powers, but still have to live with physical reality.

My two powers would be flight and the magical ability to fill my bank account at will.

Yeah, that part sucked (though it made sense in the story, created a limiting factor for the protagonist to have to consider in his strategy) so I would leave it out.

Well, since I know of nothing else and rather enjoy physical reality for now I'd have all my powers work within it.

Physical reality isn't all that bad, the only downside is that can't eat, drink, screw and satisfy your intellectual curiosity indefinitely and without restriction.

Those are good. If I was limited to two I'd choose teleportation and the ability to switch bodies with any creature I chose.

have you ever looked into lucid dreaming? There are threads about it on this board... some people are able to fly in their dreams and say the experience is uncanny -

I don't have full lucidity in my dreams but I have been able to fly in them before (usually using a personal flying machine of some kind. Pretty awesome.

from what i understand it with practice you can get pretty good at lucid dreaming. i was able to lucid dream my first try but since then haven't had any luck..then agian i haven't been trying that hard
