Default Wallace D. Wattles, and interpretation.

Hi All,
I recently read The Science of Getting Rich, by Wallace D. Wattles, the book that Rhonda Byrnes , maker of the secret movie had her life impated with. On the site, you can read the book for free, and this man seems to be a Wattles buff. But on his blog, some were asking why they were having no success manifesting a lottery win. He said, that it doesn't work that way, as the lottery is like robbery. I'm not sure why he thinks the lottery is like robbery, although I know many people are against the lottery. But, really, although Wattles spoke highly of work, and an honest business etc...he never said that playing the lottery was like robbery.
I had kind of thought that playing the lottery was just a game, and for only $1.00 one could play the game, and buy a chance of winning a lot of money, or a little money, and just have a little fun playing the game.

Maybe this is just this guys interpretation of things, and he's thrown in his own opinion. It must work to use intention manifestation on the lottery, as someone has won, and does win often.
I would think it's only robbery if someone collects millions, from people to play, and then runs off with the money, and has really no lottery at all.
The man said it's wrong to get something for nothing, and saw the lottery as an example of that, but it wasn't for nothing, as the person paid $1.00 to play, and purchase their chance to win in the game. To purchase the chance of winning was only $1.00. So I don't see it as a getting something for nothing situation.

Also, finding money on the ground is getting something for nothing, so if I were to go by this sites interrpretation of what Wattles did or did not mean in what he wrote, then this site is actually saying to pick up found money, and utilize it in your own life, it is getting something for nothing, and therefore one should not pick it up?

I do believe in free gifts. That's why it's a gift, because it is free.

Wattles was clear on his emphasis of living an honest, and virtuase life, but he never went so far as to say anything about the lottery, or what one should do with found money. If I see someone drop their money, and I just pick it up and walk away with it, I can see this as not very nice, or helpful, but I never thought I had to just give it away, or donate it to a charity, neccesarily. I always though God was giving me a little something for free, as I amy need it down the road. Just my take on interpretation of the topic.

Good post Dorothy. I have a couple of thoughts on this, which may or may not be correct, since besides reading The Science, I haven't read anything else from Mr. Wattles.

1. In the book Mr. Wattles writes:

"In order to do this, man must pass from the competitive to the creative mind; otherwise he cannot be in harmony with the Formless Intelligence, which is always creative and never competitive in spirit."

When you play the lottery, you're in constant competition with millions of other people, so my take is that the lottery is very competitive.

2. He also mentions that to receive, "man must be active", which is basically taking action. When you play the lottery, you do nothing but pay for the ticket and wait for the drawing.

3. Another part says "He must give to every man a use value in excess of the cash value he receives, so that each transaction makes for more life".

When you purchase a loterry ticket, you're not providing "value in excess of the cash value you receive". Plus in reality, all lottery money doesn't really go where it's supposed to.

4. This might be completely off subject also, but playing the lottery is gambling, and from my studies on gambling, most gamblers are not the type of people who sit down and meditate on how gracious they are about everything that they have in their current reality. Most gamblers are desperate to win money to either get out of debt, or gamble some more.

Once again, I am no expert, but that's the way I interpret it. I'm sure we'll get some more great responses about this subject.

Happy Friday everyone!

If you state your desire to the universe, it's not up to you to find the path, the path will present itself.

Of course you'll have to do the walking, but it's silly to think the universe might not deliver $1M via the lottery if that's the way it is to happen.

It's about being open minded.

I buy lottery tickeets 2-3 times a week, but I don't depend on it.

I find it fun to see if that's the way my financial goals will appear, but I work on other avenues of income production.

You have to be in the game to win, life, lottery everything

Default All Good answers!

So far, these responses are very good explainations, and way of looking at it.

ELENNY, you gave much better ansers than the man who is such a Wattles buff. He said nothing about the spirit of comeptition, etc...

Both posts in response to my question concerning this mans reasoning is very insightful.

Thanks so much. I like that! "You gotta play, if you want to win, in the lottery, or in life".
