Default I read the book, Science of Getting Rich!

I went online and was able to find and read for free Wallace D. Wattles book, The Science of Getting Rich. I can see why the makers of the movie kept the movie as it is. It's much in keeping with that book, that Rhonda read, that lead her to making the movie.

Reading it has made the whole idea clear to me, and I now know what to do. I'm following that book to the letter. I can see why he referred to it as science, and not just a theory, or a philosaphy.

It is so much simpler than even the secret teachers implied. I now know, I don't have to spend another dime, on any of the teachers of the secrets methods. It's all in the book, The Science of Getting Rich. Do this, and your life will change. It's the Law. I know what to do now. No question.

I read several years ago SoGR, and it seemed pretty much like mumbo-jumbo to me, i understood LoA from Louise Hay, too bad they haven't included her into video as a speaker , i read only one book from her and she says exactly the same thing as The Secret movie is telling us (starting from health and ending to wealth).

There are pretty much people who understand this, in my country we have Mrs. Zuzi Jelinek that is a heck of a granny (^_^), she acquired quite a lot of material things(she has several multi-MM houses around the Europe) - she actually manifested getting a house in Switzerland by only looking at the house she was walking by and getting even a large credit from the owner for that same house; she is a writer, columnist, designer - well she is almost 80 years old so she quit designing quite long ago, but she is still a columnist and talks about sex so freely that she could put many people to shame (^_^).....

I just finished reading it, and found it very interesting. Even though it was written 97 years ago, a lot of those principles still apply today.

I liked it because Mr. Wallace D. Wattles (love the name too) made everything very clear, and wasn't trying to upsell me to a seminar or a pack of CDs (or whatever the equivalent was in 1910).

Thank you Dorothy for bringing this up, and to Triprong for posting the wiki link.

I think it's great that you're reading this wonderful book. I'm reading it myself and I absolutely love it. However, I would advise you to continue to read other books as well. Becoming wealthy internally and externally, means we have to develop a lifelong wealth education. It's like becoming a doctor. You don't read just one book then you're all finished, but you continue to educate yourself as long as you're practicing medicine. That's why professionals have to take continuing education courses throughout their entire careers. They have to stay up to date on new trends and discoveries.

I believe there is a lot to learn from other teachers. I read about 6 books per month and I learn something new from all of them, even the bad ones! So let this book be the foundation for your new life. Keep it as a main reference if you must, but begin to read books by others as well.

I'm glad that life is good for you, as you've discovered this book

Interesting you mention that Alexia, as one of the end chapters says to not read any other books until, you become proficient in following the methodology presented, then you may move on and read other materials. This is a fair comment/advice from the author I think.

As I read this book I couldnt help think how similar it is to Think and Grow Rich.

Red face Honestly...

I don't think it's so easy to instantly change yourself after reading one book. And if you don't expose yourself to different resources, you miss out.

TSoGR is a great book and is truly valuable, but I have to disagree with the suggestion to not read another book until you fully understand this particular book. This is 2007, not 1910. There is wealth of more information available now. I would recommend combining TSoGR with additional books as well.

I believe our financial situations are emotionally based. If you are broke and struggling, then there is an emotional reason for that. And it has nothing to do with money. A lot of people act out their pain and frustrations through their money, because that's the only way they know how express their feelings. They don't know how to deal with their feelings properly, and as a result they have limiting beliefs about reality.

Most people need to work on creating the mentality that they are worthy of their dreams and I don't think TSoGR can help everyone with this. People who don't live the life they want, have emtional blocks that they need to work through, before they can fully understand the book.

If you follow the advice not to read anything else until you've really got it, you've followed all the steps and you're successful...then it will be years! You will spend years reading the same book and you will miss out on other information that could have been valuable to you.

Everything we want to know about life is spread out through different resources. We don't grow from exposure to one resource, but from many. I believe that reading this one book and that's all, is unrealistic. You can learn something from everyone and you don't have to wait until you fully understand a given book in order to move on to the next. This isn't learning math, it's learning to be your best self. It's not neat like an equation, it's complicated.

Wink One more thing

I really believe people underestimate what it takes to become wealthy. If you aren't wealthy now, it takes more than just reading books to get there, but a significant mental shift. And most people have a loooooong way to go before they can shift their mentalities from lack to abundance.

And it ain't gonna happen after reading one book. But hundreds. I consider myself to be successful and I read about 75 books per year. And I'll keep reading lots of books because I learn something new each time.

Here is something to think about...

By constantly looking for more books to read with the purpose of finding additional information about the LoA and how to apply it, you are affirming to the universe that you don't believe you have the capability to live by and see it work for you.

The key is to believe that you have all the knowledge necessary in order to create the life of abundance that you deserve.

I am not saying not to continue to read, but to continue to read for the right reasons and that is to continue to engage in personal development each and every day and not because you are looking for the next great piece of information to put you over the top. That is the key distinction.

If PD is about continual learning and self development in a postive manner then reading new material and reflecting on it, shouldnt hurt.

I'm going to go with PMcDonald on this one.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book... And will read it several more times to fully digest and understand it. While reading it several things just clicked for me...

I also Thought of Geiko (the insurance company commercial, if you've seen it)
"so easy, even a caveman could do it..."

Hello everyone,

Many people have written many books about the LoA, each adding their own little extra spice and twists, which in turn I think has taken away from the basic teachings of Mr. Wattles.

In my own very humble personal opinion, if your goal is PD, it's perfectly normal and encouraged to read as many other books as you can, but if you are new to the LoA, and your only intention for the moment is monetary gain, then I think you should stick to what this book says -- including the recommendation of not reading anything else until you master "the Certain Way" of doing things.

On a separate but related note, if you have watched "The Secret", and the Larry King, Oprah, and Ellen shows about the movie -- do yourself a favor and read this book. It will really bring the LoA full circle, and you will understand "The Secret" a lot better.

Peace & Love,

Elenny

I plan to not just only read this book, I plan to do whay is says. Read the book, it doesn't just say to not read other books. It explains why. And I got it! Now, I'm going to do it.

As I stated before. After reading this book, which is the one that Rhonda, the maker of the movie, was so impacted with, and this is the one that she used to make the movie. She used this secret, to make the secret, and after reading this book for myself, I understand fully why she kept the secret movie as she did. I can see why many of the other teachers interviewed were edited out, and why the editing was done the way it was done. It is in keeping with the messege that Wattles was conveying. He didn't just put out a get rich book. He explained the science of it, and why a person needs to get rich first, before wallowing in all kinds of philosophies, and teachings etc...He even said, to do things that way, will take you years to make that kind of developement. Read it. It's really simple. And so are the WHY's he explains.

Personally I have found that reading many different books on the subject of LoA has been beneficial. LoA requires more than just a new way of thinking... it requires a new way of UNTHINKING. In my mind there is a lot of things to unlearn. Reading many books on LoA reinforces the new way of thinking... even if those books do not offer any new insights. I can see a problem in reading many books if one was to take them in an extreme literal sense, because many of these books say "this is the way" and "this is not the way" or "do this but not this" (like read other books) which may only cause confusion. But if one can distill the LoA principals which are at the heart of the instructions in these books, I believe that they cannot hinder ones advancement. There are some things in the Science of Getting Rich which don't "vibrate" with me. There are many things that do! (Some of these may simply be an archaic form of writing or principals of the authors society coming through the book... I'm not sure yet). But regardless... I can see the principals of LoA in which the various authors are discussing, and I believe that more exposure to these can only help instill them in my mind.

I hope that this makes sense... LOL
Cheers all!
Chris

INCREDIBLE BOOK... TSOGR stays by my bedside, highlighted and underlined. It will not move to the bookshelf with my other 200+ books.

... and 2 books stay on my desk.

Default Amazing book

Effortless Wealth and Abundance
The Science of getting rich is a wonderful book. I have read it many times and it always stays next to my bed, along with Ask and it is Give, Think and Grow Rich, the Tao Te Ching and other classics. They have been, and continue to be, an inspiration to me.
