Lychee is on a distinguished road
Default I-M & influencing others' decisions

I was reading through a book on the power of imagination which implied that you can control or influence other peoples' reactions.

The story was of a woman who was asked to leave her son's house. She was deeply distressed about this and attempts to stay in her son and daughter-in-law's lives were not acknowledged. When she came across the power of visualization, she imagined in her mind holding a letter from her son and daughter-in-law saying that they loved her and missed her. Some time later she indeed received a letter from them according to the exact specifications she detailed in her mind before.

Could this be considered manipulation?

How could this work if people have free will - she could not have imposed her will on them could she?

If the son and daughter-in-law themselves didn't intend on reconciling, could she have swayed their decision towards what she wanted?
