Default how do you keep your worries from manifesting?

Here's what happened: I have been looking forward to a concert that i'm going to tomorrow, for 9 months...it's been one of the few things I've been so excited about that I actually got nervous that something would ruin it.

I was fine until last week when my friend told me her son has the flu and I should avoid coming over there. I practically stayed home every day to prevent myself from catching anything. I did go out Friday night though. Last night I started to get symptoms of a cold. I hadn't had a cold in at least 3 years. I started to worry even more that my cold was going to get worse (my colds always knock me out for a few days, and I can barely move.) So, I was worrying for good reason, and I started taking Vitamin C tablets and I did visualization and truly felt like I would be able to stop it from getting worse.

But it DID get worse, and I woke up so pissed at myself for letting myself get sick. I don't know anyone who has a cold and nobody I went out with got one so it's just me! Did I really manifest this cold myself? How could I have handled this situation differently, while still keeping aware of how I was feeling? In other words, how do you keep yourself from getting sick when you have to feel the symptoms and try to treat them? You can't really not think about them, if you're sick it kinda takes over everything else.

Anyway, now i'm going to try again when I go to bed to use IM to make myself healthy again. If I made this happen, I should be able to make it go away, right? Or is it possible I really was going to get sick anyway? I will say it isn't as bad as it usually is, so maybe I did prevent it from being as bad as usual.
