Howard Gardner (the world's expert on multiple intelligences) does in fact have an insightful chapter in his book "Changing Minds" where he examines the issue of why human beings find certain kinds of topics difficult to learn and grasp.

In this chapter, he talks about the difficulty that humans have in learning counter-intuitive subject matter - that is, topics where the true (or more accurate) answers are basically not the same answers which your own senses suggest that they should be.

Although Gardner did not refer to the LOA, you can see why that might be relevant.

It is difficult to hold a cup of tea in your hand, and be able to convince yourself that it is all mostly empty space, with just a few subatomc particles popping in and out of existence at huge speeds.
