Hi, I have read several books from brian tracy, john assaraf to authors from the secret. They all mentioned the common things to do: 1) stay in the present, be aware of the present 2) Pretend to live the life you wanted to live, that is in other word talk,think,walk,move like you have the life you wanted to have. Live like you have owned everything you wanted to have. Now I am confused, how can we do both things at the same time? How can we pretend to live in the future and yet stay in the present moment? I believed there are people here who can enlighten me. |

Hi, complus. Maybe it's a matter of looking beyond time. Don't "act as if" it were the future because in actuality when will you ever see the future? You will always see the present. You can only imagine the future and remember the past, but the present is constant. So, maybe it's a matter of looking at and knowing that what we want already exists. Cultivate the look, attitude, and feel of the goal now because that is the only time to experience it. Don't look for it to come to you, instead create it because it is already in you. Just thinking and working through this with you. Any other thoughts on this? |

I've always thought it was an "Act as If" for here in the present? After all if you can see your future self and you know what that future self would look like, act like, and talk like, couldn't you make changes to become that person? So say you wanted to be a professional lawyers, one change you could make would be to dress up in suits regularly, wouldn't it? I see it as changing my mindset from who I am today, to who I want to be. If I lack patience and want to develop patience, then I act like a patient man even if I'm feeling horribly impatient at the moment. Does that make sense? Steve also wrote an article on that in his blog. Probably not worth looking it up though, is it? |

Hi guys, thanks for the input. I have a better idea on it. So basically if I wanted to be a successful businessman, I will dress like one, walk like one, talk like one... in other words do what I will do to experience the feelings of being successful now..

The LOA is more about the emotive feelings that accompany your thoughts than the thoughts themselves. You must feel the feelings you will feel when you achieve your goal NOW, or it will never manifest. |
