Default Increased work effectivity - what you think?

Hi everybody

yesterday night, I practiced the power of now. I went real deep, it was a real beautiful experience.

I had some good dream (I can't remember what, but I woke up in a happy, peaceful mood), and since then, I'm working.

But the effectivity of my work is increased dramatically. I finished twice more work today, than I did in the last 5 days. And it's just 1:04 PM.

Can you give me some explanations about it?

I'd like to hear you thoughts.

Ah yes, of course.

One of the major causes of inefficiency is procrastination. And procrastination means that you're refusing to face what's in the here and now, and finding reasons to postpone what you need to do, to some indeterminate time in the future.

So if you practise the power of now, your efficiency goes up, because you accept your current situation, and you drop your resistance towards the things you need to do, and you just go ahead and do them.

How do you practice the power of now?

Heh, this is an inspiring thread to be reading at my parttime dayjob as I try to convince myself to do the hard work now and the slacking off later.

Thanks for the answers guys.

It's funny. I'm still working, I only stopped twice for eating, but I'm constantly working for 12 hours, and I'm not feeling tired (I work on computer).

Now that is a tough question. It's very easy to "do" it basically, but hard to tell.

The practice is basically nothing else but doing nothing, thinking nothing, and enjoying it.

I have a big amount of Tolle mp3's. Usually, I listen to them in the dark, before going to sleep, with headphones. Sometimes I even fall asleep while listening.

(goes back to work)

Don't think about the future. Open you eyes, see where you are, and pay attention to every little thing you do in this moment.

Hee hee, I've done this before. I had a dream involving Buffy and Xander and vampires from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. They were all busy and fighting and stuff and then they stopped to listen to him for awhile because I'd fallen asleep with The Power of Now playing. This was before I knew what Eckhart Tolle looked like, so he was played by Professor Lodz (Patrick Bauchau) ā la Carnivāle for this appearance.

Anyway, I've been slowly getting better and better at being present. It's hard to tell what the influence on my work is, though. My dayjob is temporary and the company doesn't have the best of values, so it mostly makes me relax more while I'm here- Seeing how little effort is actually required to give them what they want.

Art, my passion, has always meant a lot to me even as the rationalist atheist hardass that I was before. It feels like it's even more meaningful now, but right now I'm also more okay with the fact that I don't do it as much as I used to think was ideal. But I feel calm about that. Like I'm continually building a fire inside me that I can put into my work with focus as I'm ready.

I have been listening to him a bit. But I thought there was an exercise I didn't know about.

I was just there last night. All the way and one thought crossed my mind. There is no other now or another moment. It is all just one. It does not move from one to the other or - past to future. It just is, all at once.

it is a very simple fact, but it's actually a very big thing to completely understand

the most interesting thing about the mind is, that it can repeat affirmations over and over again, without REALIZING them

it's one thing to repeat an affirmation in your head (has absolutely no effect), and it's another thing to realize WHAT IT MEANS

the egoic mind sounds intelligent, but it's nothing else than a machine, all it does is repeating.

that's the biggest trick of it, it can convince you about anything, because it sounds intelligent
