OMG it's the Secret....

This morning, as I stand in my boss' office, waiting for my water to get zapped for my hot tea. I again see this book, sitting on her bookshelf, I have noticed the book before. Drawn to it before, but some reason, never really picked it up. Well again this morning, I see this old paper back book, and again I being drawn to it. So I pick up, and see that this book once belonged to a very dear friend that had recently past away this year. I scheduled him a sub teacher at our school for the past two years, and many of day would I sit and speak with him. He was a retired lawyer, whose wife now worked for the school.

So back to the book. My boss at that time walks in the room, and I said to her, "would you mine if I had this book, it's been sitting here for sometime, and it belongs to David and it would just be nice for me to have something of his". She replied absolutely...

Okay here's the OMG moment...

So I take my break, w/this new book in hand, title Think & Grow Rich. See David was always coming up with new ways to make money, so I just figured it some type book investing and/or making money. I have no idea how long David must of had this book, but it looks well read, and in fact was written in 1960.

So I open the book, and begin to read the Forward from the Author. 2nd paragraph. "The secret was brought to my attention by Andrew Carnegie, more than a half of a century ago. The canny, lovable old Scotsman carelessly tossed it into my mind, when I was but a boy. Then he sat back in his chair, with a merry twinkle in his eyes, and watched carefully to see if I had brains enough to understand the full significance of he had said to me." He goes onto to say he spent the next 20 years or more preparing himself to take it to the world.

"This book contains the secret...."

Well I have now read the full forward, and I am amazed of what I just read. Truly, this book is the "secret", from 1960, and somehow past to me by a dear friend who has past. As I read each sentence, as I read each paragraph, simply reaffirming what I had read in "The Secret", it literally made my hair stand up, and had little goose bumps everywhere...

To think of how this book just manifested in my hands today, is just amazing. So now I can't wait to go home and read my new found book... I just wanted to share, cause I thought this was truly amazing. BTW, 1st Chapter is titled "THOUGHTS ARE THINGS".

Yep, "The Secret" was basically just a polished and slickly marketed retelling of information from older books like Think & Grow Rich and As A Man Thinketh.

To me, The Secret, and especially its movie, always came across as an infomercial. But it worked for some who may have passed up books like T&GR.

I love Napoleon Hill and if you like that you might like his Laws of Success book. The first chapter on a mastermind group is a bit slow but after that it's amazing.

Napoleon Hill, Andrew Carnegie, W Clement Stone, Earl Nightingale, Wallace Wattles, and many,many more have all written about The Secret.

The movie by Rhonda Byrne was just another way of getting the same info out into the masses, with a hollywood flair to it.

You'll also like Earl Nightingale's The Strangest Secret in The World. I listen to it every night when I go to work. You can find this on Youtube as well as early vids of Napoleon Hill. All good stuff.

A few more excellent books are The Power of your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy, and my favorite, Magic of Believing by Claude Bristol. I liked this one so much I dedicated my blog to it

The first edition of Think and Grow Rich was published in 1937.

These ideas sure aren't new, but I feel that is a good thing.

Many success or PD writers reference Napoleon Hill's great works.

An even earlier "secret" book is In Tune With the Infinite, by Ralph Waldo Trine. Written in the late 1800s. There is probably no book I have ever read that resonated more with me.

I feel that I get it, and I see all the signs, seen so many signs lately, that it's almost a little freaky.... And at the same time, I feel as if my circumstances are the same, so in other words need all the help I can get...

Right now I am just enjoying the ride.....

This Book, is more in the "marketing type aspect", which is funny so not me, but at the same time, perhaps that's why it's for me... It's really cool though to be reading this book, and then see the little notes that David put in the book, it's almost as if he is speaking to me... It's pretty cool.... Just so wish I had known when he was alive, that he read these type of books, man oh man, what a conversation that would of been.... But I see it as such as sweet gift, from a sweet man...

Did you ever have something on the tip of your tongue, so to speak, but you don't know what it is. That's kind of how I feel right now. I know the job I am in right is not for me, I really thought I had this other job I went for, but at the same time, that job would of just of been a job. I feel there is something more me, it's not that I am down or anything, it's like a little naggy thing in the back of my mind, but I really can't figure it out..... Has anyone ever had that, like you are about to have that big (AH AH) moment, but you not sure what it is....

weird... but so cool at the same time, cuz what ever it is, I know it is coming and it is good, I can just feel it... whatever the "it" is...

chero - I know exactly what you mean. Every time I get sidetracked with normal 'day to day life' - one of those signs or Aha moments will pop up to remind me. And yes - it's all good.

Strange, I am currently reading that book. In fact moments ago I was reading that book... Pretty cool story cheropride, especially that part where your body was physically responding to the words that you were reading and how it had belonged to your friend who had passed. Its kinda creepin' me out...

And I hope you enjoy it as much as I am. I am only on the 3rd chapter but it is profound.

Wow, that's pretty kewl.... I just started too... You must of gotten a little of that wow feeling when you read my post, just to see that it is the same book you are reading... No such things as accidents, now are there.... Funny too, I think it's Chapter 3 I am on now too... I reading the the Chapter of Faith, and really love how he describes it, don't you...

And yes, Chuck thanks for the link, it's like I just can't get enough.....
