Stop digging up the seeds: How the Law of Attraction Fails

I came across Blaine Lee’s book, The Power Principle in another newsletter I was reading, and in one of the reviews I came across the lines “Stop digging up the seeds you plant.” It made me realize that when the Law of Attraction doesn’t work for you, it’s because you keep digging up the seeds. Sow how does this work? Well, let’s look at a a typical use of the law of attraction.

Deciding what you want: This part is pretty simple. We usually know what we want to attract. The best way to improve this step is to be somewhat specific about what we want, because that we can we can form a picture in our head that’s more imaginable. If you say you just want a relationship, that leaves endless possibilities and it could end up being a disastrous abusive relationship because all you imagined was being in a relationship. The same thing applies to money. I think it’s important to have an amount in mind.

Put the law of attraction to work through visualization and affirmations: Once we decide what we want, come up with a description we go into the phase of affirmations and visualizations. Commitment and consistency which I mentioned before are critical to this stage of attracting the thing you want.

How we dig up the seeds? In my own experience with the law of attraction, I’ve realized that I tend to dig up the seeds I’ve planted in 3 specific ways, all the byproduct of being attached to an outcome.

When: The moment you ask the question when, you have brought doubt into your visualization. Placing a timeline on attracting the thing you want ironically extends the length of time it takes for you to receive the thing you desire. This like pulling the seeds you planted out of the ground, and checking to see whether they are sprouting. Naturally, if you do this the process of growth starts all over again.

How: I think every self improvement teacher has said this over, and over again. “The how is the domain of the universe.” This is another question that is like digging up the seeds. Once the seed is planted, it’s best just to leave it and let it grow.

What am I doing wrong?: This is a really interesting phenomenon that I noticed in other areas of my life. My favorite example is surfing. I’m a beginning surfer so I love using the analogies from it. Sometimes I really struggle to catch a wave, and I find myself asking the question what am I doing wrong. However, the minute I shift focus and ask myself “What can I do differently?”, the result completely changes. I catch the wave and ride it smoothly to the shore. When you ask the question what am I doing wrong, your mind makes the picture of what you’re doing wrong, and now you’re visualizing how to do this very thing wrong.

Lovely isn’t it . As they say, you’ve got access to the most sophisticated machine in the world, yet the operation of it is quite simple, but it doesn’t come with an instruction manual.

I tend to dig up the seeds wondering why they haven't grown. And then will go immediately to "what did I do wrong?" I am starting to get better on both counts though, so there is hope.
