Anyone have any experience with Nam-myoho-renge-kyo as a manifesting mantra? Just curious. I've used all kinds of hecka crazy methods, mixed up into a frothy witch's brew, I'm trying this one and I'll let you know how it goes... it's basically a vow, "I devote myself to the law of cause and effect". I've known a few different Nichiren Buddhists now, from different sects of it. Wondering if anyone has had any experience with it so far, who isn't actually a Nichiren member (and thus has no vested interest in trying to "shakubuku" me. |

I knew zero about Nichiren before you posted, and I most certainly have no desire whatsoever to "shakubuku" anyone!

Wax I am with you totally!!! No interest in anybody doing the "shakabuble bla bla" or what ever to me! Although it would be nice to shake our buts a bit to some awesome music while muttering a "shaka shake shake" thingy and have our dreams come true!

| I don't think Jacques would mind if he got the vine and the beret, and a few meters of bread! And some smelly cheese!!! Oh I can go on and on with the French... but I will say this only once!

Hi Pyrogen -- I was a practicing Nichiren (Sokka Gokkai) Buddhist for many, many years, but have gone my own way with all this deliberate creation stuff. I hung onto the nam-myoho-renge-kyo chant, though, for a lot of reasons. For one, it helps me meditate, relaxes me, allows me to let go of ego-based control and just be. It also makes me feel like I'm sending out positive, light energy to the entire world. I now use it as part of a series of chants that put me in the place of receiving what I want. It also gets my day off to a really terrific start! It takes about 10 minutes, and when I'm finished, I'm feeling really good: incredibly energized and connected to Universal/Divine Power. When I'm in that flow, the things I'm intending happen with ease and synchronicity. That's what works for me. But then I tend to pick and choose from the various deliberate creation/spiritual/IM philosophies what feels good and ignore what doesn't. Blessings, Toni |

I'm curious if you see any difference between the Nichiren take on deliberate creation vs. the take that we have here? What was your experience like? I've been interested in talking to people about their experiences, but the thing is, whenever I talk to someone presently *in* a Nichiren group, well... you get it. I bought an SGI juzu rosary, but I would like to actually go back to using a Tibetan mala... easier to count with that (it has 108 beads but the spacing of them on the string makes it easier to manipulate for actual counting)... or I might make a special mala that uses the same symbolism but keeps the spacing so the beads can be counted. I wonder if I'll keep some of my Tibetan spiritual appropriations... (such as some of the mantras) Everyone else: Toni could probably explain better but I got the impression that Shakubuku is the Nichiren equivalent of Christian "witnessing". Well, I have been successful in deliberately creating many wonderful things through the conscious application of LoA (as I understand it), but I had zero results through the Nichiren approach. At least as far as the "stuff" is concerned. I had much better results applying practical magic (long story), but found it somewhat limiting. I did get some measure of peace for a long time, though, and the "inside" journey was pretty cool. Monthly group prayer for world peace (kosen-rufu gongyo) was an incredible experience. 200-300 people, all chanting the same prayer, so the vibration was physical as well as emotional. Add to that the knowing that all around the world, others are doing the exact same thing at the same time, it's the vibe sent 'round the world! But like any similar group, folks suddenly wanted to take over every moment/aspect of my life, and I wasn't having it. (You're right about the "shakubuku." The rosary is a hold-over from my Roman Catholic days, and a gift from my mother. Twice around the circle is 108, which I take as a symbol that we're all one. Fundamentally, we're all seeking the light, no matter what we call it or ourselves. We just believe in different paths to getting there. It's all good. Thanks for asking! I hadn't really taken the time to examine the differences and similarities. I really like where I am now, but I'm coming to understand it's all because of where I've been. Blessings, Toni |

Interesting stuff. I've been doing gongyo and daimoku for about three months now, since this thread started. I'm finding that it doesn't manifest me anything. I can chant for anything I want, but it doesn't help that. What it has been doing though - is that it works great in concert with standard LOA methods. More like greasing the gears. Universe's response time has improved, if that makes sense. |
