My Audition Was Today

I don't know.

For those of you who don't know, today was my audition for an international opera studio. My intention was to be granted a place in it for the 2007/8 season. While I still don't know the outcome, I do know this:

I felt so good yesterday and sang very well. Today I panicked a lot and did not sing my very best.

I have been concentrating very hard on this, and feel I have done everything in my power to focus my intentions, thoughts and actions very positively and in the direction of my goal. Everytime I came to a roadblock, I examined it and did my best to dissolve it. I have been using the Paraliminals very much, psychoanalysis as well as being my general self-improving self.

It is only one hour after the fact right now, so I know I am feeling quite raw and open. Still, my feeling is not positive about being accepted. Somehow I felt like just another voice passing through their audition hall.

Congratulations for doing your best, for being positive. You deserve, now, to give yourself a break.

Thank you for your response. You are right: I am feeling anxious about the outcome. Today really was my initiation into the Big Girl's Club of opera singing/auditioning. I attempted something way outside of my comfort zone and what I have done until now. That said, I felt ready for it.

It is so upsetting to me that I wasn't able to put my best singing forth, when just 24 hours ago everything was in place. And when I have been working for months on this intention.

Thanks for letting me whine a little. Tomorrow, I'll get back on the horse.

You did your best in that moment, and it's ok. Remember, you don't always know why things happen the way they do. Maybe you did better than you think you did, or maybe you did ok-ish but God is saying no to the Honda cuz he wants you to have the Bentley. Etc.

Either way, congrats for even trying something outside the comfort zone--that is laudable in and of itself.

Good luck with the results Michelle. My heart goes out to you. It sounds like you put a lot of positive effort in bringing your desire into reality. No matter what happens, you'll definitely learn from this and it will help your future efforts

Also, if you improved your skills even more while practicing for the auditition, no matter what happens, the result is progress! And it can only be for a good purpose!

It is the day after now, and I feel somewhat better. Whatever happens, my actual participation was already a step in the right direction.

What a wonderful attitude you have, Michelle! You've said some other things as well, that you got out of your comfort zone and so on. Could this be one step along that path which will land you a spot in the opera company of your dreams? Yes, yes and yes !!! Will it be one step, two or three or more? Who knows? Will you learn as you have here and each time feel better and more in that comfort zone, most probably!

Wouldn't you agree that what you do next is just as important if you get in this gig as if you work further towards the next?

What you are experiencing is the suffering that comes from attachment. Read the thread entitled "Detachment".

Yesterday I was asked to perform two roles in two operas in an open air opera festival in Germany this summer. This is a good step for me in the right direction, but it is not my intention ... Anyway...
