Have any of you ever asked for a sign that something will happen or that you should be taking a certain course of action? How did it work out? Are they reliable? I know someone who reads far too much into everything when there is no connection and I dont want to be like that and get 'led up the garden path.' I asked to see a blue bird within three days if I was on the right path with hoping for my manifestation and that night I was inspired to go to a craft store. i didnt go specifically to see blue birds (because that would be cheating-like googling a blue bird) I saw a picture of a blue peacock. I didnt see any other blue birds until about two weeks later when I saw another peacock and I havent seen any since (it has been about a month now). I.e. seeing a blue bird is rare for me. I hope it was a real sign and not a coincidence |

I ask my subconscious mind for "signs" and trust myself to interpret them. I don't see signs as external influence, or a message from an entity outside of or separate from myself, but as a communication from the part of me that is most interested in my well-being -- my subconscious mind. Signals that actually live in my body are wonderful -- like using a pendulum or other muscle indicators, or dreams -- and I do well when I rely on them. It's also nice to notice symbols that show up -- like your blue birds, or small coincidences, especially if I ask my subconscious mind to give me an unmistakeable message in advance. I just got one a few minutes ago, as a matter of fact, when bought two books, started reading one and finding that it admiringly referenced the other. There was nothing in the content, advertising, subject, or reference that would have anyone thinking they would be related. (Well, they were both non-fiction books that could loosely be termed "personal development" -- but in vastly different areas.) I love symbols, and so does my subconscious mind! |

I should have posted my inquiry here from the get-go; the symmetry of 'manifesting' an answer would please me... Last edited by Wax Frog; 03-18-2009 at 09:16 PM.

My dreams consistently provide me with fantastic symbols to interpret, that make me laugh, and amaze me with the insight they make available to me. Dreams are like the best kind of magical friend, the kind that brings refreshments. The pendulum is simply a lovely way to mark out subconscious signals -- you can do a search on NLP pendulum and see some methods and videos for using a pendulum in this way. Again, I also like using my own body, my own muscles, as in programming "yes" and "no" signals into different fingers and then asking my subconscious for it's guidance. It's the same thing -- it's building rapport and trust with your own unconscious mind, which, as I mentioned, has your well-being as it's highest purpose. |

*This same niece, a mere two days after I'd heard a radio show caller talk about her daughter seeing multicolored sphere-like "fairies", told me out of the blue that she had seen "water fairies" of similar description. The kid's in tune Last edited by Wax Frog; 03-18-2009 at 09:34 PM. |

Wax Frog, what is the purpose of knowing "why" these signs are so poignant and vivid and delightful in your life, when you could be focusing on how* they can help you to get the most wonderful and beneficial results in your life, which is what your unconscious mind is standing by, like a happy leprechaun or a sweet fairy, waiting for you to call on it to make all your dreams come true? *How = by paying attention (not figuring out). "Why" is for suckers, and you're not a sucker. "How" is for bold generators, and that you certainly are! |

Normally this is where I'd say, "OK, need to come up with a fun '5' experiment", but the very act would be self-defeating. Rote = not fun... Edit: while I knew it was getting close to 5:55, I did not consciously post at that time; ha ha, very funny Higher Self/Universe/Whatever! |

Well, for me, it could be a fun game, not rote but rousing! For instance: unconscious mind, lead me to a fun, new, pleasurable person to encounter who will make a positive difference in my life, and I in theirs, and lead me to them by pointing me towards a delightful and unmistakeable incidence of fun fives as the signpost. Thank you, unconscious mind! Very funny about the 5:55! |

What might be possible in your life if you were to shatter that particular paradigm? As you say in your signature: it's time to stop waffling, isn't it? Why wait?

I guess you could say I have a stability addiction, causing me to cling to what I know even though the familiar and comfortable is no longer workable, or will soon cease to be.

What specifically do you fear might happen if you let go of clinging to the familiar, comfortable and no longer (or soon-to-cease-being) workable? "Unsafe" in what way exactly, would you be, if you were present to spontaneity and 'random' possibility?

| Because (according to my presumably false beliefs) I control very little, if I placed myself in any spontaneity-rich situation/environment, things would likely fall apart and become intensely UNpleasant for me in one or many ways. Most likely as a result of my doing something really stupid/ignorant/geeky. Or maybe it would go in a direction my relatively-inexperienced self wouldn't know how to deal with properly.

Wax sometimes we are so afraid of being "burned" out in the world that in order to avoid that, we create a cocoon that keeps everything out that we can't control. Then years later you look around and realize that not only have you kept the bad stuff out, but you've kept all the good stuff out too. And it becomes so familiar that at a certain point, the idea of changing, or doing something differently seems almost impossible because you've been practicing a certain way of life for years and years. Then you realize that you want out, but you're still scared, so you rationalize why it's better to stay safe and hidden from view. But the whole time the best part of you is nagging at you yelling "let me out I want to see the world!" Steve's last blog "Leveling Up" has a great way to look at this. |

I know worst-case scenarios seldom come to pass, but I have a vivid imagination, plus a few past stupid faux pas that still sting to think about. Even sometimes when my intentions were good they backfired painfully. Also, What Cylon Said ®; I'm off to read that entry... Last edited by Wax Frog; 03-19-2009 at 04:38 AM.

I see. And again I ask: what would be possible in your life if you were to shatter your paradigm and act boldly in the face of your fear? How might you benefit? (It may look like we're off of your topic, OP, but really it's all signs!) |

Anyway, the first thing that comes to mind is a single word - unstuck. I'm not sure why I'm here, but I *am* sure I'm not supposed to be fiddling while the Rome of my potential burns, which is mostly what I've done so far. Last edited by Wax Frog; 03-19-2009 at 04:48 AM.
