Is it possible for our best intentions to be at odds or in conflict with our detiny?

While I have experienced the law of attraction and manifestation flowing freely at times in my life, I have also experienced times when for all of my best intentions, positive thinking, visualizations, passion, I am unable to move in the direction I desire. Is it possible that this happens when the higher self has an alternate plan? I am currently in conflict between a physical passionate desire to teach after completing a 4 degree in education and the spiritual side of me that appears insistent I follow a different path.

My question is more in regards to trust. On one hand I am a clairvoyant and when working with spirit I completely surrender. I love it because I don't know anything about my clients and the physical part of me that is Lally wouldn't have a clue what to say. I sit beside myself often in awe. In my physical life I have a family and household to run and bills to pay. Readings are an intermittent 'hobby'. I don't want to do them on a full-time scale. I love being here in this world too. I love all the aspects of my physicality as much as I love voyaging into the outer realms. Yet for all best intentions, thoughts, words, actions in getting a teaching position, 6 mths after graduating, I am still unemployed.
My frequent requests from spirit for insight, guidance or met with 'trust'.
I'm a practical person and always felt I have a balance between my physical/spiritual but this is confounding me.

Your higher self is you. No difference. What do you really want to do.
Then go do it.

......in the process tho, you'll have to get rid of all the negative beliefs stopping you.

My ultimate desire is to teach 'The Secret'. I also have a deep seated interest in working with people who's minds function out the range of 'norms' such as those diagnosed with dyslexia, ADHD, Bi Polar etc. I've worked with friends who are highly intelligent/creative but suffer the extreme highs and lows of these disabilities. Being able to control their own minds instead of their moods/emotions running rough shod over them has given them more stability.
I learnt these concepts/beliefs/practices 20yrs ago in my early thirties. Imagine if we taught this 'secret' to children and early adolescents.

Let me tell you a story from my life. I moved to Atlanta to expand my real estate business. I ended up getting involved with a fraud, walking away from millions of dollars, being commended by the FBI and then losing my business.

My plans and my desires weren't this. However, through all of this happening I found so many much better opportunities, and I found the exact purpose of my life.

I really think that you will attract exactly what you want, but sometimes in comes in a quite unexpected form. I found my purpose, but the cost was quite large, and totally worth it, and for that I am so thankful.

That sounds alot like Erin's recent entries on how intuition is a guide to what we may not directly want to experience, but what we need to experience for our own good.

I see myself standing on a big, flat opening like Tom Hanks at the very last scene of Cast Away, unsure of which direction or path to choose from.
