Have you ever considered what a bizarre concept gravity was at it's conception? It's a popular myth that it represented "good science" or a "discovery". This myth arises out of a lack of understanding of what the scientific revolution was really about: the shifting understanding of nature from an organism to a machine. (Note: we no longer think of nature as a machine. We think of the universe in terms of evolution. This is because you could not freeze the universe in time and have it still exist. Atoms are made up of the movement of electrons and protons. The atoms are defined by this movement, and would cease to be if the particles were not moving. There is a minimum time in which an atom can exist.) Anyway, all Newton did was tell us there is a mysterious and unexplainable force that pulls us towards bodies of greater mass. Yeah, no sh t buddy, we hadn't noticed! He never came up with a scientific explanation for gravity. It was just THERE and Newton called it a "force". Newton's achievement was to put this "force" into mechanical terms. Greek science held that this happens because it is the purpose (telos) of an object to fall. A mystical force called gravity is no less occult. However, it was useful as a tool for understanding nature in mechanical terms. It was useful mathemtically and in engineering. Quantum theory now tells us that gravity is a result of the bending of space time, which sounds wonderful but I don't get it! Similarly LOA is currently beyond us to explain (except with the age old solution of subjective reality, which has always been the fall back of philosophers who are stuck). However, we can see it working, perhaps not as immediately as gravity but it's there. The fact we can't explain it doesn't prevent us from using it as a tool, in the same way mathematicians and astronomers used gravity as a tool before they had an explantion for it. |

I definitely agree that many LOA techniques work (and many of the techniques are similar to other conventional techniques, not known as LOA), but I disagree on some of the reasons I hear of "why" it works. In the end, I suppose we are just guessing anyway. But as of now, LOA is not yet explained and verified in a scientific way like gravity is. To be fair, I don't know much about electricity and how it works, but I use lights every day! |
