Default Possible to increase IQ or intelligence using LOA?

Would it be possible to increase IQ or intelligence using LOA. Eg. Could a person with average intelligence increase their IQ to above average or an above average person then become a genius?

I would just like to restore my intelligence, Ive noticed that it has declined in recent times due to depression/anxiety & past drug use.

Would any of this be achievable?

thanks.

John Demartini recounts that as a dyslexic, school drop-out he had been told he would never amount to anything. Then he met someone who helped him identify his life purpose and also told him to say every day 'I am a genius and I apply my wisdom'

He said it every day for more than 2 years. He went back to school to study and was helping someone with their homework in the library when he heard someone else whisper 'that Demartini is a friggin genius!'

So if you apply it then I guess the answer is yes.

However, I would also suggest that you don't only rely on the LOA and seek help for the depression and anxiety which will help free up mental space too.

It all revolves around how you feel about your iq. Read more than you normally would.

Sure. Not only that, if someone else were to hold the belief that you're very smart, your IQ might just rise on its own.

This is proven by the classic experiments by Harvard professor Robert Rosenthal, on both rats and children.

No, I don't think your Bill Gates proposition is correct. I could elaborate, either from a psychology perspective or from an LOA perspective. But I have spent too much time explaining things to people in this forum recently.

The Rosenthal effect (also known as the Pygmalion effect) is well-known. Apart from the link I already provided, you can google and read up on it for yourself, from other sources.

Covert Communication in Classrooms, Clinics, and Courtrooms - Psi Chi

Pygmalion effect - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The self-fulfilling prophecy or Pygmalion effect - corollaries

Professor Robert Rosenthal developed the experiment in the 1950s. It garnered him international recognition and fame, and the implications have been explored from many different sociological perspectives (eg would black or Hispanic students perform badly, because their teachers believe that black and Hispanic tend to perform badly etc).

Still alive and kicking today, Rosenthal enjoys a very distinguished reputation in psychology. His academic career includes more than 30 years as a professor at Harvard University (he was also the chairman of the psychology department there for seven years).

By itself, no I don't think so. Would sitting in a room, doing some positive thinking and chanting "My IQ is high at 160," automatically make you so? This is one aspect of LOA that I don't buy. But perhaps, through intent, LOA would help you stumble into resources that would help you do that, i.e. become more intelligent.

To paraphrase Napoleon Hill, you must be willing to pay the price for whatever your definite chief aim is.

Very achievable.

Gently, progressively (if you go too fast you'll feel discouraged and like its "not working") do as highly intelligent people do.

Highly intelligent people welcome problems, cause they get an inherent satisfaction out of solving them. They love to read and they love logic puzzles and they rarely stop thinking. Television is often boring (unless its a program that stimulates them to greater thinking) so more often they're doing something other than watching TV.

Focus more on "I'm good at solving problems" and "I'm getting really good at memorizing things" and "I'm getting faster and faster at figuring things out" with your affirmations, rather than just affirming "I have a high IQ."

Combining practice in brain skills with affirmations and visualizations becomes a kind of feedback loop: you get better and better at problem-solving and speed of processing, which makes it easier to believe those affirmations, which enables you to get better and better at cognition, and on it goes.

Find some interesting subject and enjoy reading about it in depth.

I think there's some brain training games for the Wii. There's also one on Facebook. I like the logic puzzle magazines from Dell.

Also try something new that your brain hasn't done before. If you don't play a musical instrument, for example, teach yourself to play a song on the keyboard (having to use both the right hand and left hand seem to especially enhance learning). Take a drawing class. Or quilting. Or snowboarding. Learn new stuff. As your learning, at night before you sleep visualize yourself performing the new task.

Since LOA is not magic the answer is yes. It's not that you wish for being smarter and bam there it is. You would likely be guided towards experiences, opportunities and others that will help you grow in regards to what you seek.

I would say yes, but LoA is about action as well as intention. The brain is a muscle and you must exercise it. Some great brain exercises I know are 'learning things'! Find something of interest and learn about it. Go back to school by buying revision books and re-learn that calculus you forgot. Read about modernist art.
