So far, I haven't spent much time focusing on intentions to change my body.... more like I just have a general desire for it to be different. Has anyone had success with intending the body they desire? If so, how did you go about it? Did you intend to enjoy exercising more? Intend to have less of an appetite? Or just visualize the body that you'd like to have?

As a simple example, I started taking a walk around the lake during lunch hour, and it's surprising how much I like it!

I may be a bit controversial because I do believe that I can Supply the HOW...I don't always leave it up to the Universe, other than in financial matters. To me it doesn't make sense that the Universe will supply the HOW, when I already know exactly HOW to have a more healthy body. anyways...here is my very detailed intention to change my body. Physically, I have my ideal body. I am muscular, lean and very strong. I weigh 135 lbs by Jan 1, 2007 I am a size 6 which completely thrills me. I love working out. This is because I get to work out in Nature. Everyday I can be found in the mountains, either hiking, trail running, or mountain biking. In the winter months, I am either snowshoeing or Cross-country skiing. The trails I choose are very challenging and get my heart rate up substantially and increase my cardio capacity. . My metabolism is increasing daily. I love the fact that I get to embrace the beauty of nature while I am designing a more beautiful body. I work out 6 days a week for a minimum of an hour and a half and up to 2 hours. I am not afraid to push my body. Because I participate in exercise through these sports, I feel very athletic. I have a tremendous amount of energy and look and feel youthful. Once a week I take a yoga class with either Krista, Melissa or Katie. I also have a 15 minutes morning routine that includes breathing, stretching, weights, and toning. I lift weights on my arms 3 days a week and they look very toned and sculpted. My abs are defined and flat. I am a triathlete. I am always training for a triathlon. To keep in shape, I swim 2 times a week for 30 minutes. In the beginning of March, I begin my detailed tri-training. This is a detailed workout that I have purchased from Active.com. In the summer of 2007 I participate in 3 triathlons….1 sprint, Spudman in July, and Jordanelle in August. I medal in at least 2 of them and all my times are under 3 hours. I eat healthy. I ALWAYS eat only fruit before noon. My diet consists of fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, small amounts of whole grain breads and pasta. When going to lunch, frequently I have a salad. I am a health nut and am conscious about the freshness and water content of the things I put into my body. 80% of what I eat is Living Food. Because of my awareness of my diet. I am incredibly lean. I have a very trim and athletic figure. I sleep well at night because I have already digested my food before going to bed. I am very aware of the food combination principles and so I feel fantastic ALWAYS. I eat very little sugar during the week and weigh myself daily so I know where I’m at and if I need to adjust. I do no take into my body that which could defile the body for in effect I must begin to live the spiritual laws of health. For my spirit that is tabernacled in my body demands vigor and vitality and it takes physical strength to fulfill the purposes of the Lord and the purpose of my creation.

Tripp444 - If by "change your body" you mean loosing weight I think the best approach isn’t to use the logic “either … or …” but the logic “and … and …”. So the best approach is to have a vivid picture of your desired body to motivate you, to take care what you eat and most important to exercise daily. Conn Stell Good Luck |

Hmm.. well I don't really need to lose a lot of weight. Maybe 10 lbs. I'm 5' 7" 135 lbs. I don't really have any major changes to make, but there's definitely room for improvement. I was thinking of using the "vision board" approach for this, I'm sure the Victoria's Secret catalog would have plenty of material. Just wondering what other's have had success with before I determine a plan of attack.. |

Tripp - maybe you can manifest all that time. After all, there's lots of transition time and little bits of time here and there that really add up. It's a matter of figuring out how to better use that time.

One thing to note is that I've given several pieces of advice on these boards in the last day. A lot of that comes from the fact that I see bits of myself in a lot of these posts, so I'm also the audience of the advice. It's kind of like telling my subconscious these things. So yeah, I have 30 or so pounds I am losing (thanks annie!) and time that I am opening up for myself to practice yoga and walking outside. |

My goal for the past three weeks has been to love and care for my body (...through Reiki, a new skill I've just begun to learn). And it has made a difference! I lost the last 4.5 stubborn pounds that I needed to lose to acheive my first weight goal (an overall loss of, oh, 30 lbs over the past five years). Caring for myself eliminated the emotional need for comfort food and increased my sensitivity to what my body really needs (food or water? fast-acting carbs or slowly digested ones? caffeine or a 15-minute break?). This week I was a little bit mad at my body, and gained it all back... I adopted this strategy because I realized that I would over-focus on goals like working out at the gym or eating only a certain number of calories as overcompensation for feeling disempowered in other areas of my life. Then, when I started to feel more positive and in control regarding those areas of my life, I wouldn't feel the need to go to the gym or eat properly. As a different strategy, focusing on balance in all areas of my life has made weight loss and healthy eating a natural byproduct of happiness, not a route towards happiness. I haven't been working out lately, but the funny thing is that it's one of the first times I've felt my body craving exercising, and yoga. I normally don't really want to be working out until I begin my workout. In fact, I normally don't really listen to anything my body tries to tell me. I suppose my daily check-in, where Intellectual Me walks up to Physical Me and says "What's up, dawg?" in my self-Reiki sessions has been integral in that. Yoga and martial arts had a similar effect, but I was always over-intellecutalizing the movements, which distracted me from getting in touch with my body. In Reiki, you're just laying there moving your hands over your head, your stomach, your feet, and zapping positive energy at yourself, so there's less distraction. |

Annie's affirmation above is a classic example of how to state an affirmation, and how to participate in manifesting one's intentions. The book "The Science of Getting Rich" (on which "The Secret" was based), clearly states that just sitting back and expecting things to happen without participating in manifesting one's intentions may not yield the intended result. More recently, Erin Pavlina's Podcast #17 highlighted a similar process. I'll use Annie's format as a model. Go Annie! |

What a great compilation of inspiration and strategy here on this thread! I so agree that it's a combination of "and-and-and", that the practical, strategic and visionary Some days I find myself, through circumstances, mood or both doing more of one than another but it seems important to me to always have some time for the "visionary" that is, the conscious intention part. I have clearly noticed differences of all sorts on days that I consciously intend and days that for some reason or another I don't. So I've pretty much given up on going through days WITHOUT consciously affirming my intentions--there's not much reason that should happen, is there ? Go, ALL ! |

I've been asking myself WHY I want to change my body. Why do I want to lose weight? I mean, everyone tells me that I look fine and I believe that they're sincere. So what's with this "OMG must be skinny!" feeling? I asked myself and when I am really honest with myself, the answer seems to be, "I want to look in the mirror and see someone beautiful." And because my society tells me that only very thin women are beautiful, I have been focusing on losing weight. But really, the weight loss part is extraneous. What I really want is to be happy with how I look. So I'm going to try focusing on that and see what happens. I'm going to be happy with how I look, and maybe weight loss is a part of that, and maybe it isn't. We'll see! |

I take the integral viewpoint, we need to care for and keep our mind, body and spirit healthy and they will see to the beauty. As for using intention to change my body, I absolutely have. And long before I knew anything about intention-manifestation. Through it I have almost completely healed from chronic health issues that I suffered with for more than a decade and lost 30 pounds that I put on when those problems made me unable to exercise. This intention manifested in two stages. The first actually was the weight. I realized that I needed to take some weight off for my health and I decided to treat my body better, but I also decided that my body already knew how to lose the weight and all I needed to do was support it. I didn't need to work off calorie-for-calorie every extra pound. I lost the 30 pounds in three months without self-denial or excruciating workouts. Then I decided I wanted to reduce the stress that was clearly damaging my health, and I was led to a style of yoga that I would not have chosen had I known more about it. That's when my overall health took the dramatic turn. I still have two things left that I want to manifest into health. You can't go wrong intending abundant health; just let the universe take the reins and live congruently so you can receive what it's waiting to manifest. |

At the same time, is there power in the first post I copied up here which could be applied to the second two? Please understand, I mean this to be a highly, highly respectful question to all who read it. First, a lot of people who are actually overweight also suffer from all sorts of related conditions, so even if the focus is on body weight, a lot more could be involved. Second, could the effort to heal a diagnosed condition be helped by a strong intention towards overall health and happiness within one's body? Could such an approach have a physiological effect to truly and specifically improve whatever state of health one is in? all best, Ati

Actually, it's funny you mention hair loss. I've been playing around with an intention to reverse hair loss. I haven't lost it all, but at this point I've accepted the possibility that I might. But I periodically send some energy and positive intentions up to my scalp. I'll keep you posted.

I visualized the body I wanted and THEN made the appropriate changes. Grab a picture of the body you like and spend 1-2 minutes a day seeing yourself as having that body. What this is doing is changing that subconscious belief about what you should or shouldn't look like. As over 90% of what you do is subconscious, you want an image that's good for you. After coming up wtih your ideal body image, come up with a plan for it. Will you eat different, exercise different, drink more water, sleep better? After that take some ACTION on your plan and see what works and what doesn't. Do more of what works and less of what doesn't. |
