Default What perspective do you visualize?

Is it better to visualize in the 1st person (looking through your eyes, real life) or in the 3rd person (watching yourself, like in a movie)?

I prefer 1st person, but use the one that works for you.
It really doesn't matter which one you use, the goal is to really FEEL the situation. It really depends on the person, but some scientist say, that humans "see" memories as 3rd person, so that means you should use 1st person for visualizing.
I've still had success with both perspectives, so don't worry. Try both and use the one that feels better/more natural.

I have heard that the only way to effectively visualize is to do it in first person, like you are actually living the way you want to be. After all, you don't want to manifest a movie (which could be turned off by someone else). Also the more different senses you can use while imagining it the better.

First person absolutly. The more indepth the better. I visualize color, texture, size, shape and how it would feel if I had it in my hands if it is an object. If it is a place, I visualize how I arrived there, the smells I would expect to smell, what the weather will be like, even breezes on my skin.

Let your mind go wild and focus on not only the big picture in your visullizations, but the small ones as well. Good luck and peace.

Use both, but remember that when you visualize in a dissociated state of earning a millions dollars (for example) you won't necessarily feel the feelings you would feel in an associated (first person) state.

Visualization in the first person triggers the emotional mind/subconscious mind to develop the feelings of the thing you want. If you don't trigger any emotions then you aren't "speaking" to your subconscious mind. If you're not penetrating the emotional mind, then you're not developing the vibration to 'attract' the thing you want.

Plus it's not any fun visualizing when you don't feel the feelings

Keep it simple and fun with it.

Default My movie/ merge method

This is my first post. I’m very pleased to be here with a group of like-minded souls. :-)

Re visualization, here’s what works for me. It’s a process that’s taught in the Silva Method, and I find it very effective. I call it my "movie/ merge" method.

I form an intention of whatever I want to achieve, then visualize myself as I’ll be when I’ve achieved the goal. I set a time and date, and on the screen of my mind, I project an image of myself on that date, when I’ve achieved whatever the intention is.

It’s just like a movie. I adjust the image/ movie (BTW, I place the image at a distance of about 30 feet away, not close) until I feel it’s the way I want it.

At that stage, I either walk towards the image, and merge with it, becoming the image, and feeling exactly as future-me will feel, or I talk with the image. I ask her advice -- what will help me to get to where she is? What should I do right now?

This works amazingly well. I get lots of ideas and insights. From then on, I remember exactly how future-me feels, and the “becoming the image” process raises my vibration, usually permanently.

Try it -- you’ll feel great afterwards. :-)

What I like about this method is that your conscious mind makes less of a fuss; if that makes sense. There’s less “yes, but---” self-talk.

Cheers

Angela

Default Any Tips?

Any tips on how one can make the visualizations more vivid?

I struggle sometimes, with not being able to get a clear picture in my mind's eye, and therefore lose track of whatever direction I was trying to go in.

So any tips in that regard?

Part of it is just pure practice. Take a simple object such as an apple, examine it closely, then place it in front of you on a desk or table. Now, stare at it for ~5 seconds, then close your eyes and recreate the apple in your head as vividly as you can. Open your eyes again, look at the apple for ~5 sec (more or less is OK), and visualize what you saw again. Do this with other objects.

Another way to practice is to think of a pleasant memory, and review it.

In addition, if you've survived this long on planet Earth, I'll bet you have adequate visualization abilities. It might be a matter of concentration, in which case meditation may help.
