Default False or truth beliefs?

I think I need to be clarified on this, because I ve learned that whatever we focus upon and believe, it happens. But I dont know if its true for everything, for example, if a crazy guy totally believes the dogs are green, then they should be green,a guy believe he is gonna die soon,a girl believes he is ugly(fearing, etc) when she is really gorgeous..... An anorexic girl could believe she is getting fat, visualizing herself worse, fearing, etc, but she is actually getting thinner, and thinner, and so on..so thats just paralyzing her for what she truly wants? So could we have a deep (false)believe about something that totally differs from the reality? I think, that when you are always thinking about getting fat(for example), your perception changes about what you see now, but not the reality, right? Thats my main doubt, when does this really match(belief-->reality)???

Thank you, have fun. Sorry for my grammar!!

We all have false beliefs. It is part of being human to remove them and create new ones.

Protein, I'm not sure if I'm going to understand your question but many of the beliefs you've listed are "true" for the person believing them and, because of them, the "believers" (for want of a better word) structure their realities, accordingly.

For instance, the anorexic girl believes she is fat and wants to change the "fat-ness" (if you will) and acts accordingly. One of the difficulties in working with anorexics is her actions and behaviors have a definite impact on her body (not eating, purging, etc.). However, unfortunately, the "fat-ness" isn't in her body but in her belief system so her actions have no impact on the "fat-ness."

I love your questions about the "crazy guy totally believes the dogs are green" because it's always blown my mind that we can talk about colours. First off, dogs ARE green to that crazy guy. I mean, I can look at same dog and say it's white and he can look at the dog and say it's green but neither of us have any way of knowing whether we having the same visual experience as the other. (A true life example of this would be colour-blindess.) I'm always fascinated when I watch children "learn their colours."

So, I guess that not only is it possible to have "a deep (false)believe about something that totally differs from the reality," but it can happen frequently.

Me personally, I believe that one's beliefs fashion one's reality so I would argue that they always "match." I also believe that our beliefs were originally created (by us or others) to help us make sense of the larger world out there. And so, I find it much more helpful to focus on whether my specific beliefs continue help me (understand, get where I'm going or otherwise enjoy my time here in this world) or get in my way.

It might be fun for you to go through the situations in your post and identify how the beliefs help or not.

I hope that's the type of information you were seeking.

yeah thank you guys, so a bad belief(fear) its not always going to manifest, for example, getting worse, or whatever...

This may help.........

Download Steve's podcast the 'True Nature of Reality'

Steve Pavlina Audio

The whole thing is excellent, but go to the 32nd minute and play.

It covers core (fundamental) beliefs very well.

Cheers
