I started this thread as a companion to the "what are your intentions...?" thread. It was politely pointed out to me that when I first phrased my intention that their was a better technique. In short I phrased my intention as: I would like to invite into my life the means/ability to heal my physical body. Make it so... Annie was kind enought to point out to me that using the phrase: I AM inviting into my life the means/ability to heal my physical body. And so it is! Has a better effect. So this thread was born to answer questions and have discussions about the "what are your intentions...?" thread |

I'll just throw in my 2 cents. I have been using affirmations/intentions/ whatevery you want to call them for about 17 years now. And when I say I use them...I mean on a daily basis. What I have learned is that stating them in first-person, present tense, AS IF they have already happened is the way to go...just more powerful! I want...is a weak statement. I don't know exactly why...but it just hasn't worked as well. One thing I know is that the phrase "I AM" is probably the most powerful phrase in the human language (we can argue about that later When I set "intentions" I also create a visual picture of what I intend, complete with motive. MY BIG "WHY" if you will. Somehow that also connects to the Law of Attraction, reminding me of WHY I want it and therefore my subconscious "crew" gets to work to manifest what I desire. Is it late? Because I'm starting to ramble. |

One thing that many people do is put a standard set of phrases in the intentions. This helps to make the intention into a mini-ritual, which has several advantages and a couple of disadvantages. Some of the phrases that I've noticed are "In perfect love and perfect trust," "In an easy and relaxed manner, in its own perfect time, and for the highest good of all," and "of myself I can do nothing." (The last is a very ego-aware statement that puts the ego in the back seat for the purposes of the intention.) The advantage of this is that, since it is a ritualistic behavior, it puts your mind into a frame of reference where you feel the intention going out or taking form. This is a very powerful tool, because the belief in the intention is as important, or even more so, than the words themselves. The disadvantage is that people tend to ignore things that they have repeated too often. Instead of thinking of the ritualistic parts of your intention, it gives your mind a moment to wander. Together with Annie's point above, we can combine these statements to form some more effective phrasing that helps with the beliefs behind the intentions. First, though, saying phrases like "I am a millionaire" tends to throw up red flags in the unconscious, simply because we are not yet millionaires... That hurts our belief in the intention, which tends to be a bad think. If we re-word it to include both "I am" and a term that we're more likely to see as true, then we'll believe it all the more, which helps the intention tremendously. An example of putting it all together would be "In an easy and relaxed manner, in its own perfect time, for the highest good of all, I am well on my way to becoming a millionaire." |

Yes, beautiful. Just this start looks to me like we have the opportunity to do something really powerful here. I agree with all that's been said along the lines of how powerful (that word again!) subtle nuances can be. Lil Chris, may I use your phrasing to suggest something which one might consider as a next step along the line of positive phrasing? Hoping it is OK with you, and just as an example... You've changed "I would like to invite into my life the means/ability to heal my physical body. Make it so... to.. "I AM inviting into my life the means/ability to heal my physical body. And so it is" Now what would happen if you went further to say something along the lines of: "I AM using powerful means and abilities to heal my physical body every day" I agree with what I understand Annie has said. To paraphrase--if I articulate something which implies I don't have it, then I am straight out saying that I don't have it. This tends to inadvertently attract "not having it" (I don't want to "not have it") at the same time as I think I'm concentrating on what I do want. Also putting things into the active and present day form.. now you are USING powerful means, not just inviting them and you are using them EVERY DAY, not just someday when they come around. Does this make sense? Thanks for all your thoughts Ati PS I agree Adam that having a ritual has both the advantages and disadvantages you mention, for sure! I guess the right sort of introductory ritual is working for me because I also meditate and it seems a lot like a meditation to me. So that keeps my mind from wandering. It's kinda like a good song to me. Knowing oneself though is key, so that might just be for me. |

Ati, Yes it's quite ok with me and makes quite a bit of sense... I've come here to ask questions, learn, experiment and experience... As far as phrasing, I guess I should stick with what feels right for me. I mean I understand what your saying about putting things into the active and present day form and Adam had suggested "In an easy and relaxed manner, in its own perfect time, for the highest good of all, I am well on my way to becoming a millionaire." but this doesn't quite click with me (no offence Adam) I think I like the direct approach. As soon as I started telling my self "Money comes Easily and Frequently" It's really quite amazing, i like the scratch off lotto tickets, of the last 6 i've bought 5 have been winners. Small ammounts to start but a noticable improvement over doing nothing before... So let me ask you guys this, How important is putting feelings into my intention...? The reason i ask is that it seems i've been more on the side of logic for quite some time (very limited feelings) does this make sense...? I've been told that i'm just a "thinker"... does anyone know or can relate to what i'm talking about... |

I think what is going on in the "I want" versus the "I am ..." phrasing is that the former includes a hidden belief that "I don't have it right now." And so you are really trying to intend two different things: your conscious intention and your unconscious opposite of your intention.

Lil Chris - I think emotion is way that our subconscious communicates with us. So if you aren't "feeling it" when you do an intention, chances are that your subconscious has some reservations about your intention. So you may have to do some work to figure out why your intention isn't "resonating" with you. (E.g. you may have picked up some beliefs in early childhood which conflict with the intention.)

One possibility is that your subconscious thinks you will ignore the feeling, such as what may happen if, for some reason or another, you didn't want to feel anger or happiness earlier in your life (usually childhood, but sometimes these develop later). Or, another communication link between you and your subconscious might be sufficient.

"I am so excited to awake and arise at 5:00 a.m., joyful at facing a day full of opportunity. I look forward to beginning the day. I feel rested and alert. I have lots of energy all day long because my body is rested, extremely conditioned and very well maintained. " Maybe it seems a bit corny...but there is emotion in there and the sole purpose of it is to get me excited about getting up at 5:00 am. That "emotion" is the driving force of accomplishing my goals. When I listen to my recorded intentions regarding money...I don't add "the emotion" because the culture has already built it in for me. This culture loves money and so I don't need to add to it...it's a given...MONEY MAKES ME HAPPY! Make sense?

annie, I think I'm begining to understand, if I read this right. So in your intention you state how you want to feel as well as what you want to accomplish (in the present tense)... So, I may not "feel" excited at first but I will begin to feel the way I suggest as things begin to change. |

Thank you for the insite you and everyone else has provided... I noticed that you have said you made recordings of your intentions, I had a similar idea in that I like developing websites and graphical work, I thought I would use this talent to create my intentions and put them on my website. The thought was I could keep focused on my intention as I develop the necessary graphics and text to visualize my intention. Thoughts...? |

Did you by chance see my post in "How Manifestations have worked in your life" (something like that??? In this forum?) I talk about how I recorded it and listened to it...etc and the result. Here's my 2 cents on WHY MUSIC from an article I wrote recently... One of the most distinctive features of the LifeVision is that it is recorded and listened to daily. But even more intriguing is the fact that it is recorded with Baroque Music in the background. Why music and why Baroque Music? First of all, music stimulates and awakens the body. It increases blood and oxygen flow to the brain reviving tired listeners. Music also inspires emotion. As reported in Ostrander and Schrader’s Super Learning, research discovered that the ideal state for learning is when the brain is in a relaxed, but aware state. And when they say relaxed, they do not mean asleep, but relaxed, focused and aware. It is at this point the brainwaves run at about 8 to 12 cycles per seconds or hertz. This is called the alpha state. Alpha is simply a state when you are calm and relaxed, in a way similar to when you whistle a happy tune, or when you daydream. Getting into the Alpha State can be achieved in a number of ways and most of us achieve it several times during most days. At this time the mind is clear, receptive to information, and rapidly making 'connections', realizations and joining up deep thoughts. Many an 'AHA!' moment comes when an individual is in “Alpha”. Years ago when this research was beginning, scientists were startled to discover that a certain kind of music can put the brain into an accelerated-learning state. Listening to Baroque Music was the number one method of getting into “Alpha”. Again, the research shows that baroque music at 60 beats per minute causes your brain to produce more alpha [calmness] waves. This happens on both the left brain’s analytical hemisphere and right side’s creative spatial hemisphere. When both hemispheres are engaged, the brain is able receive more information. You can retrieve information quickly because the music acts as a carrier wave to long-term memory storage. "Learning improved by 24%, memory by 26% with the use of Baroque Music." Research Iowa State University "Your conscious mind is very intelligent, and your subconscious is a hell of a lot smarter." ~Medical hypnotist, Milton Erikson. Super learning music (what educators are now calling Baroque Music) speaks to your unconscious as well as your conscious mind, creating a bridge of awareness which allows you to begin tapping into your unused capabilities. It gives you ways to insure that your powerhouse subliminal mind is going in the same direction you are. With it, you can heighten the effects of your LifeVision action messages for your inner mind. While the music plays, you are in the ideal state to do mental training. This special music helps synchronize brain hemispheres & body rhythms to more efficient patterns.

I use the recorded LifeVision because it takes it to my subconscious. I don't have time to FOCUS on my goals for hours at a time, but I do have time to listen to them. I put the CD into the player and the music helps take it to the subconscious. I listen to it conscioiusly too of course, but frequently I start daydreaming. That's why I add the Baroque music. I like the direct approach as well and I like the way you've phrased this above.. Also I think the process of intention is just abt as important as the outcome, really. Wouldn't you say a $5 win on the lottery that's connected to intention activity is worth more than just scratching off $5 ? All best, Ati |

So clear, rono and RandomJohn and others who've addressed this ! Sometimes I find myself phrasing an intention one way when I start, then refining it further to really transfom the "wants" into "haves" and so on. Sometimes what I think I want is really a proxy for what I really want, or there is something I need to have clear and more immediate which is more important or just needs to come before what I think I want. Something I could have now, for example. Just as a handy example: Quote:
"I am grateful for my wealth in all things important to me. Both my gratitude and my wealth are in continuous development without limitations", ....for me, I add my introduction up front to put all this into the context that works for me ("in an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way, for the highest good of all, in its own perfect time, in good faith and in good humor") It's a little tricky at first isn't it?

Having read about the intention-manifestation some time back, I recently took up a personal experiment to experience it myself. Although I haven't seen any real results yet, I am truly amazed to learn so much about how by simply rephrasing our intentions (emotions, words etc) could have that big effect. I can already feel the difference by adding in the word "I am excited ..." before my intention and repeating it in my mind! Thanks guys! You have opened my eyes and mind to this powerful stuff. I can't wait to see how and what my first (nope, should be three ha!) intentions will turn out. Looking forward! |

I really like “Money comes easily and frequently” I’m adopting that! Some more thoughts - I tend to use the formula “In an easy and relaxed manner, in a healthy and positive way…” when I can feel that I am being too intense about wanting to manifest something. It seems to help to slow my thoughts down and allow the anxiety of wanting stuff too urgently to dissipate. I would definitely agree, that “I am” is an extremely powerful formulation. It gets straight to the point, and centres you in the middle of the desire you are expressing. Personally, I do tend to use “I am …ing” (making, doing, experiencing) phrasing because again it puts me in the moment, right in present and allows me to feel that thing I am manifesting coming towards me. |

I've been saying the MDI for awhile now, and it has evolved to this: In the easiest most relaxed manner, In the healthiest most positive way, In the shortest period of time, For the highest good of all, I intend one-million dollars to come, Into my life, And into the lives of everyone, Who holds this intention. This felt more congruent to me, at this time. I imagine, as things continue to evolve, so will the wording of the intention. I recite the intention, while utilizing both The Huna, and Reiki, as well, I use my old rosary beads to recite the intention on. Seems to work really well. Recitation is very good for me. Soon, I found I recite the entire intention in one breath, which has helped alot in alliviating my asthma flare-ups, and I found myself saying it under my breath, to myself repeatedly while I'm doing other things, and I've begun to say it even in my dreams. I've also found having the habit of saying it, goes a long way in carrying me through days, when I don't feel as motivated, or FEEL'N IT. Emotion in something is good, but difficult to maintain, or even to control every thought, but just like I don't FEEL like getting out of bed, everyday, I still do it. It is the same w/intentions. Some days the motivation is there, and some days it's not, but the habit pulls you through the low-motivation days, and carries you until that day you wake up feeling chipper, and ready to fully embrace, and participate. |
