Default What has I-M to do with personal development?

Only one question:

What has I-M to do with personal development?

Please give only your personal opinion.
(quotes from other people or books, and references to obscure scientists don't count here )

Hmmm.

I guess I would have to say that it takes a lot of trust in one's self to open up to Spirit and let your desires happen. You have to work on the different blockages that keep your desires from manifesting. For me, it's the fear of success, and the fear of failure, as well. Odd, I know, but they've kept me stuck for periods in my life.

I guess most people use it as a motivation technique. Like Positive Thinking but with more magic.

And motivation is important in PD.

Off the top of my head, I-M focuses my thoughts, emotions and actions and opens me up to possibilities. I know I'm strictly not meant to quote other peopel but my coach has the expression "What is up to me, how is up to the universe" so I stay focused on the what and not on how I'm going to achieve it, and weird synchronicities happen.

I say this a lot, and it's partially a joke but holds a lot of personal truth to me, it's not the event, it's how you spin it!

Lots of love,
Colm

I was going to mention authors like Brian Tracy & Jack Canfield - is that allowed? Basically, if you look at their books, you'll see how IM ties in with the rest of personal development.

For them, IM is not a primary focus - it is usually one topic, integrated with other topics like time management, goal setting, effective communucation etc (that is, all the usual PD topics).

And actually, this is the same for Steve Pavlina as well.

Acting Like Godot, I presume that everybody here knows the vision of these people.
So it would be interesting if you share YOUR opinion with us.

it is also a methodology or a tool, and in conjunction with our initiative and action is the quickest way to learning the lessons we came here to learn.

Manifesting is how we use our metaphysical abilities to synchronistically influence components of our reality to keep our life from being unnecessarily difficult.

IM by itself is just a theroy, I'd say. Applying the theory would be to actually deliberately intend something to manifest. So the question almost needs to be qualified but mostly IM is talked about in terms of deliberate intentions, i.e. not just noticing what's manifesting around one as reflecting habitual intentions (getting what you don't want in some cases or getting the same old sh*t).

At one level, with out deliberate intentions, IM can be a way to start to notice what one is doing habitually and how one's life is turning out right now because of one's dominate way of being. This is steps along the way into being more aware of one's unconscious behaviours that may not be working for you any more.

Also with IM, with deliberate intentions, one has to know what one wants before one will get it. That may sound basic but I've spent a lot of my life taking what I get by default and it's been pretty good so far. But if I can develope further by deliberately intending my life to come about then I'd say I'm developing from my old way of just taking the default/habitual/easy (although pretty good) road.

I also like what another poster said that I'd say as: IM is a framework to look at what is blocking one's progress.

Me, I'm using it as a tool to Focus.

There's so much information flying around, so many choices to make, so many little nagging desires1 trying to push their way to the forefront of my psyche. I will be using "thinking thoughts that make me feel good when I think them"2 to create a really masterful and fun life.

1 The most potent and nagging of my LNDs at the moment have to do with: how can I make a difference? what direction would I like to go in that will make the world a better place?

2 that's the line that inspired me so much from the Abraham-Hicks' book.

Its about taking the steering wheel in life instead of the back seat.
If thats not PD, then what is??
IM means you decide where to go, youre aware of what your creating, things dont just "happen" to you, you take responsibility for your thoughts, your words, your actions, your life
