I had an AHA moment yesterday I thought I'd share - maybe it's nothing - but then again.... I am reading Bruce Lipton's Biology of Belief. I came to a part of the book where a major study found that most children's brain waves - between ages 2 and 6 - are predominantly in the lower frequencies - specifically Theta. For some reason or another - all kinds of thoughts entered my head. I immediately checked google and found most animals also operate predominantly in Theta. Ever hear where children and animals are more susceptible to seeing spirits and ghosts? Could it be their brain waves that allow them too? As children grow older - 12yrs and up - they 'lose' the ability, and wouldn't you know - this is the same time period most children's brain waves move from Theta to Alpha and even Beta? But our pets still see things.....hmmmm Interesting? I think so. I was also reminded of the Bible verse where unless we become like little children we cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven....and it also says the Kingdom of Heaven is within......... Like I said - strange random thoughts that came from nowhere.....but it made me go "Woaaaa". Thoughts? |

I like the way you think, friend. Wikipedia's article on Electroencephalography agrees with the idea the children work on a theta frequency. Are there any theories as to why the lower brain frequencies allow for better extrasensory perception? I'll put some thought into this over the next few days and report back my findings. |

I like where this thread may be heading... I'd like to know if one can get their thoughts into theta consciously or while being conscious (like the children). I wonder if it's related to "How one is thinking"... Let's explore this...

I was looking earlier into any sites that link children, ghosts, and theta waves, and found none. However one site commented that children who have Near Death Experiences also are prone to seeing spirits. When you are 'unconscious' - as in a NDE, are you in theta? delta? Since when we are 'conscious' we are in Beta? I'm also reminded of the channelers I know, mainly Esther Hicks. Jane Roberts, and even Erin, don't they all 'meditate' before they can start channeling? Hypnotherapy uses alpha and theta to plant suggestions..... I've always poo poo'd the idea of meditating, but now I'm beginning to think otherwise. |

Check this out Brain During Meditation - Crystalinks When shortly explaining each brain wave type it says: "THETA - 4-7 cycles per second - day dreaming, dreaming, creativity, meditation, paranormal phenomena, out of body experiences, ESP, shamanic journeys" So i think you may be rigth at some point with your thinking.. Im really interested in all this brain waves states and what can a person achieve in these states...So if anyone knows more about this please share.. Thanks a lot. Matty |

I definitely meditate before doing my readings. I do it to clear away my ego, raise my vibration, enter a somewhat altered state so I can receive impressions while doing the reading. When people are getting a reading with me in person they will often see me looking away from them and my eyes sort of glazing over or going unfocused, which is because in order to see with my third eye, I have to tune out what I'm seeing with my physical eyes. For example, daydreams... when you get really into them, someone can walk by you and they'll see your eyes open but you're sort of checked out if you know what I mean. It would be so interesting to be hooked up to an EEG when I'm doing a reading to see what happens to my brainwaves! As for the age of children and all that... I definitely noticed my abilities at age 4, but honestly, the majority of my paranormal experiences happened in my teen years. So I didn't turn it off at that point. I guess most people do, but those who have this talent/ability can keep it going and develop it. |

I remember reading a story about a guy who always sabotaged himself whenever he got close to success. Like right on the eve of a promotion, he would stay up all night drinking and blow it, things like that. Turns out he argued with his father once about something when he was a young boy, and his mother - (who he adored) got angry with him and said "How dare you think you are smarter than your father" "You will never be the man that he is" So anytime he had the opportunity to be 'better' than his father', unconsciously he would do something to ruin it. ......his father was a trash collector. | |

So the trick it seems, is how do we consciously get ourselves from a waking beta state, into a theta state, with the least amount of effort and/or experience? Affirmations are good for impressing a concept or idea onto the subconscious. But this isn't the same thing as theta. Meditation and/or self-hypnosis seems to be the 2 remaining choices? |

I use a free meditation podcast, available on itunes, which uses binaural beats to stimulate theta brain waves. I find it hard to get into a deep state of meditation as I am very high energy, high activity focussed, but when I use this as a meditation aid I am away with the fairies within minutes! Let me know if you need the link and I will dig it out and post it. Vicky |

I found a free intro course offered by the Silva gang. I listened to a short audio this evening, it was just a simple, guided, relaxation session, self hypnosis kinda thing, with binaural beats to get you into alpha. Their centering audio I believe. All I know, is I was tired and cranky when I woke up (I work nights). I got up at 1:30pm (usually get up at 3pm), and had a headache. Afterwords, I felt simply amazing. The headache was gone. And still - at 11:00pm, I feel energized and alert. I also feel light and - well - its hard to explain - I guess what a runner's high might feel like? Just really, really good. And things that usually irritate the crap out of me, like traffic on the way to work, or certain coworkers - nothing phases me tonight. I just feel too good to let it bother me. I have been smiling all night! I will do this again! |

Sure thing SilvaUltraMind System - The Largest Silva Mind Training Site on the World Wide Web - Discover a New Method to Control Your Mind by Jose Silva I must admit, I still feel pretty good, as far as feeling "happy go lucky"...but I am getting tired now..coming up on 5am. I also forgot to mention, I only had about 5 hrs sleep yesterday before I listened to the exercise. Still pretty amazing how I felt all night. In the audio, you do hear the guy say, "when you next hear my voice, an hour of time will have past" which I consciously know was not true - but my subconscious did not, and I did feel like I got an extra hour of rest. I will listen again tonight with headphones this time. |
