Hi. I haven't really seen this mentioned anywhere before, and it's been bugging me ever since I read about the concept of manifesting things.

If you want something that affects another person, (like say you want a relationship with that person or something), isn't it manipulative towards them to manifest something like that? Are you considering what the other person might want? Couldn't you possibly be robbing them of something that might be better for them?

I mean, I guess it'd be OK if you were really sure it'd be good for them, but how can you ever be sure? It really isn't up to you, is it? That's not for you to decide...

Thoughts?

The answer is no.

That's my belief, anyway. It seems like quite a few people believe otherwise. The way they solve it is they add onto their intention this: "...for the highest good of all." I think it's silly and redundant, but I guess it can't hurt.

You affect a potential mate by not working for a relationship for that mate. That is, everyone you don't have some interaction with is affected, in that they miss out on the experience of having that interaction with you.

In a way, you're "interfering with people's lives" no matter what choice you make, no matter what things you do or don't do.

That's a really good point. I guess as long as the other person gets to choose for themselves, it's OK. Manifesting stuff seems to me like making things happen the way you want them to, and it'd be all fine and dandy if the other person wanted the same thing, but then would you really need to "manifest" anything in the first place?

That makes sense. So then if it really isn't actually for the highest good of all, it won't happen, and nobody gets interfered with in a negative way... right?

I'll be honest, I haven't really done this stuff. At least, not intentionally. I always thought I was psychic, and that my thinking about stuff that ended up happening later just meant that I was predicting the future. Not that I was actually causing it to happen. I've always liked analyzing conflicts between people and if thinking about that means that I've created some... well, that's a bit scary.

I think the idea is to ask the Universe (or whatever) to arrange everything in a way that is for the highest good of all. The LoA can fulfill our wishes in more ways than we can fathom (due to our limited awareness), so the meaning is to ask that the Universe finds a way to deliver it to us whilst also benefiting/not damaging others. That may involve not having your intention fulfilled 100%... but maybe you will be happier with the new way than you could imagine being happy with your own intention, anyway. Some people aslo tag onto another thing to their intention: "...this, or something better". Meaning that it can unfold in this way, or a better way.

I believe that if it is not in their best interests, it won't happen. However in that case, you will be brought to a place where you no longer want it, potentially because you have been diverted to something better.

I think that holds if you are the object of someone else's intention. If it is not in your best interests then they will change their intention to something that will be in both your best interests, e.g good friends instead of lovers perhaps.

it is as manipulative as a mother bringing a child to life without asking permission.
