Default A nice surprise.

Today I went out for a nice relaxing lunch. I decided to take a different approach to life for just a little while, so as I sat there eating my meal, I enjoyed every small bite with gratitude. I finished up and went shopping for a few groceries at the Albertson's next door. As I placed my last item on the belt, a young man and his friend (teenagers?) came up from behind and politely asked if he could go ahead of me as he was only purchasing a package of smokes. I smiled and said "Of course, go ahead." When I got up to the cashier, he slapped a dollar bill and some change on the counter in front of me and relayed to me that the young man ahead of me requested to apply his change ($1.83) to my bill. Wow! How often does this happen? Things like this are starting to happen to me more and more since I've joined the LOA "world."

Gratitude. Hee hee!

Some nice teenagers over there. It is good to hear that not all of them sting people with a knife wherever they go. (Sorry, this last thing just slipped out of me because of all the knife-stinging that is happening in London these days.) Maybe these ones would have, though, if you had said "No". Who knows. Anyway, nice story. Thanks for sharing.

Nah, I'm not so sure that would have happened. Not long ago, I witnessed a young guy help make the difference up when it came to an elderly man not having enough money to pay for his meal at a local burger joint! He really seemed to feel good about his action afterward. I had to whisper to him that I was proud of what he did for the man. He returned with a smile. Maybe it's just the ions in the ocean air out here!

I will second that... Bliss is everywhere, it just needs to be observed... Thank you fitx3 for sharing your observation.

So true. There is a Thoreau quote out there. Something akin to , "There is beauty all around us, if we only stop to pay attention to it."

This made me happy!

Glances of true beauty can be seen in the faces of those who live in true meekness.

How beautiful, when a whole tree is like one great scarlet fruit full of ripe Juices, every leaf, from lowest limb to topmost spire, all aglow, especially if you look toward the sun! What more remarkable object can there be in the landscape? Visible for miles, too fair to be believed.

One of the most attractive things about the flowers is their beautiful reserve.

The perception of beauty is a moral test.

When I detect a beauty in any of the recesses of nature, I am reminded, by the serene and retired spirit in which it requires to be contemplated, of the inexpressible privacy of a life, how silent and unambitious it is.

You cannot perceive beauty but with a serene mind.

Smile

Just stop to smell the roses!

This sentence had no meaning before I encountered a near death experience. So if you got there without a “wakeup call” like me I am very, very happy for you!

Nothing like some Thoreau to make me smile :-)
The quote I was referring to is something else.

"The morning wind forever blows, the poem of creation is uninterrupted, but few are the ears that hear it."
